Who: Nathan Young & Wallie Smith
What: Wallie comes home to find an unexpected new housemate.
When: Day 46 (afternoon, backdated)
Where: House 1
Warnings: Most likely language. Also, Nathan has weed. I'll update if anything else comes up.
Nathan didn't spend that much time investigating prospective homes. After a hard day of harassing statues and whoever he happened to run into he was bored, tired, and still slightly damp from his tumble into the fountain. He tried the first door of a house he thought looked relatively livable, and upon finding it open didn't hesitate to let himself in.
It looked empty enough. It wasn't great, but it seemed better than the community centre by a long shot. He wouldn't mind staying here. Nathan shrugged, stripping off his wet jumpsuit, and quickly changing into the clothes from the bin bag he'd had when he found himself in Kore. That done, Nathan sighed and sank into the couch, rooting around in his socks for the last of his weed stash. He definitely deserved a spliff if he was going to be stuck here.

When he opened the door to his house, he took one look at the kid sitting on the couch and struggled with an immediate sense of possession, which was irrational and uncalled for and he knew it. He had no particular claim to the house except that he'd got there first, it wasn't really his, and honestly, he would have let anyone who'd asked crash on the couch in a heartbeat. Bruce had done it often enough, after all.
Still, he raised an eyebrow. "Making yourself at home?"

"Feel free to do the same. If anyone lives here, they were stupid enough not to lock it. They may as well have left a sign out asking for squatters. And axe murderers." He squinted suspiciously at the sword on his back. "You aren't planning on using that, are you?"
no subject
Wallie ignored the space on the couch for the time being, preferring instead to sit against the arm of a nearby chair. Being called 'stupid' was... well, aggravating, but he'd heard worse. Wallie was patient; it was Shonsu that wasn't.
"Actually, it's my house. Or at least, I was squatting here first." He shrugged. Shonsu would have kicked this kid out into the street without a second thought, but Wallie wasn't about to do that. "I guess the second bedroom's free, if you're not an axe murderer. What's your name?"
no subject
"It's Nathan. Not an axe murderer. I don't think I've ever committed a crime in my life." Which was an obvious lie to anyone who knew the associations of an orange jumpsuit like the one he'd left on the floor. Even if they didn't, his tone was a little too mock innocent to be considered completely trustworthy.

"Okay, Nathan. I'm Wallie. If you're not an axe murderer, and I know I'm not, then I don't see why we shouldn't get along."
His arms were crossed over his chest while he gave Nathan a long look, trying to work him out.

Because housemates share. Swords are pretty sad as far as weapons go, but it's still significantly better than any weapon he's ever managed to get hold of.

A swordsman didn't share his sword. It was a personal item, for him alone. And even if Wallie wasn't a proper sort of swordsman, he was enough of one that he wasn't letting anyone else fool around with it, at least not without a very good reason.
Although he did sort of doubt Nathan's ability to do any real damage with Wallie's four-foot sword. The advantages of having a sword built to match a ridiculous height, he supposed.
"A swordsman's sword is his life. It's not something that get shared."

Not that he thought his argument would make that much difference, or even sounded all that sincere. It was pretty obvious to Nathan the guy had some sort of unnatural attachment to it. Which was weird, but he'd seen stranger things. Maybe he'd get a chance to have a go with it if he left it lying around one day. Otherwise, Nathan honestly wasn't all that invested. He'd likely more or less forget about his interest in a few hours time.

Maybe he ought to keep an eye on sword for the next few days. He wasn't sure, but Wallie wasn't about to take chances with it, either. Especially since the urge from Shonsu would be to teach Nathan a lesson if he so much as laid a finger on the sword. That was... probably not necessary.
no subject
Still. Keeping an eye on it wouldn't have been unwise. He wasn't going to go out of his way or anything, but if he was given the chance he wouldn't have passed it up. Wallie seemed pretty harmless, and he wasn't concerned there might be consequences. Even if he had, it probably wouldn't prove to be much of a deterrent.

Okay, he might've been teasing Nathan a little bit, but he couldn't help himself. It was all in fun, at least, with no malice behind it. "Not that there are a lot of flies around. Look, you're not having it. It's not going to happen."
Wow, I am so sorry about how slow this was.
"So, where's this spare bedroom? I want to see what I'm getting here."
Re: Wow, I am so sorry about how slow this was.
"The second bedroom's right there. It's all yours." He grinned and gestured in the appropriate direction.

"Not bad," he said after a moment, turning back to Wallie. "Keep it rent free and I'll take it."
no subject
He hoped he could deal with that. He wasn't going to throw him out just in case Shonsu took offense to him in future.
