"For what?" Ned asks, momentarily perplexed. Then he realizes Jesse is probably apologizing for startling him and he waves it away, "Don't worry about it." After all, as far as Ned knows, he couldn't help it.

"Most of the changes seem a bit more drastic than just heightened senses." Ned nods to the profusion of plants around them, an obvious indication of the hand that he's been dealt in this game. "Changing into a wolf is pretty cool, if you ask me. There are worse options."

Better that than a vampire, or whatever kind of creature Galen's become. But of course, he isn't going to say that out loud to Jesse. Instead, his glance slides away and he fills up the potentially-uncomfortable silence with sound, "Mine's not so bad, either. I can even kind of control it, look." Ned plunges his hand into the soil, asks, "What's your favorite flower?"
