It's funny, how a lot of Ned's feelings about baking pie equate to Jesse's about cooking meth.
"Right on, man," he tries to assuage some of that surprise he's hearing in Ned's voice, squints at him with a bit of a grin before he kicks his first shovelful into the ground. The guy seems nice, real nice. A little skittish or something like it, and Jesse's almost- not sure how to act around it. His normal self, sure, but it gives him a feeling like he's gotta impress this guy. It makes him take this shoveling thing seriously.
Jesse Finch? The guy he just ended up - well, essentially crying on his shoulder yesterday, a fact he's still wiped out about. Jesse pauses in his shoveling to spasmodically regrip his hands on the shovel handle, shrugs a shoulder. "A little," he admits, frowning at the ground. "Been here-" And he sighs, once he does out the math. "Two months now? Came across him when I first showed up in this place, we kinda hit it off." He digs in another shovelful, looks up at Ned. "You live with him, huh? Galen too."
