"It's a pretty recent development," Ned says, which isn't really an agreement or a disagreement with Charlie's assessment. He seems... perturbed. Ned doesn't look at Charlie, though he sees his twitchiness out of the corner of his eye. He's just going to go on and pretend he doesn't notice, because that seems the only polite thing. It's what he would want, if the tables were turned.
