"I'm no more human than you are. I've seen it happen."

He blinks at the extra greens, then gives an awkward shrug. "I can eat, but I don't require it. I taste my own cooking to make sure I'm not about to give anyone indigestion, but I'm trying not to take nutrients out of anyone else's mouth."

He's unwilling to make a big deal out of it, either, though, so he takes a cautious bite of greens, as well. "Hmm. Needs a sprinkle of parmesan. Could be worse, though."
