It's amazing, how a couple months ago, he'd have scoffed at the story she's telling now. It sounds impossible. It should be impossible. But then, most of what he's seen here should be impossible, and he's come to accept that things aren't the same here as they were back home. What she's saying had, apparently, been perfectly possible in her home world. Maybe it's possible here, too.
