It isn’t immediately obvious to Tony why it’s getting so cold. Thor never explained to him about the frost giants. There’d only been one remark, that Loki had been adopted, and even that he’d heard about secondhand. What makes the connection between the cold and Loki, Tony will likely never know. Maybe it’s instinct. Maybe it’s the fact that the cold is so sudden and only one of their number can use magic. Whatever it is, it dawns on him, and he glances over in time to see that blue hand before Loki steps beyond him.

Blue. A woman on the network mentioned the blue godling in connection to Loki, but he hadn’t thought she’d meant it literally. He wants to see the rest of him, see if that color extends to the rest of him, but there are more immediate concerns and he can’t give in to curiosity.

The way they put themselves in front of him reminds him of Afghanistan all over again. This time, he resolves not to let anyone die on his behalf.

“Go for the knees. Legs. Elbows and arms. Bring them down. Whatever destroys their mobility. If they can’t move, they can’t reach us.” It kills him to hide behind them like this. "Immobilize one long enough for me to power it down."

That he can do. There isn't a machine in the universe he can't figure out in a few minutes time.
