Angels don't need to breathe. They don't have hearts that beat. And yet, there is a fast, panicked pulse in Raphael's being.
He's not young, not in the way he has been until now. It couldn't be say he was grown either, but he's mostly self sufficient. And yet, in this instant, he feels so unbelievably young.
"FATHER!" It's a scream, a cry. Disbelieving, frightened, and hurt beyond his ability to put word to it. He cries out again, and again, at some point starting to weep as his voice grows both more frantic and quieter, as if the sheer force of emotion is wearing him out.
And yet, there is no answer.
