Even a robot needs time to think.
Who: Daneel and whoever happens by.
Where: The fountain in the town square.
When: Day 30, in the morning.
What: Daneel is pensive. That's allowed.
It had been thirty days since he'd arrived here, and Daneel still had no idea of what was going on, why he or anyone else was here, or even how they'd arrived. He had a vague notion that partner Elijah would have done better -- of course Elijah would have done better. The problem was there wasn't exactly anyone to question. The passage of time didn't trouble him -- what was thirty days added onto twenty decades of existence? -- but still, he felt some small sense of failure, for not knowing more than he did, and for not being able to do more than he could to protect those who were here.
This morning, Daneel was outside, and he was looking up at the fountain statue rather pensively. Idle walks were not something he did, and he certainly didn't need to refresh his memory as to any of the details of his surroundings, but he was accustomed to doing rounds to check that all was well, and sometimes he felt it necessary to do so here, as well, where danger was a far more concrete thing.

He pulled on his leather jacket and stumbled out of the bar, squinting hard at the light of the morning and scratching a hand through his hair, as messy as it always was. The way home led past the fountain and he slowed to a stop to tilt his head in mild curiosity at the stranger standing there. Honestly, he was wondering who the hell would be awake and not hung over at a time like this.

"Good morning, sir," he said politely. It seemed the thing to do. "Did you need some assistance?"
no subject
"Nah, kid. I'm fine," He grumbled, turning a curious gaze in the direction Daneel had been staring off in and raising an eyebrow. "Did you need some assistance?"
no subject
Inclining his head slightly, he added, "We haven't met before. My name is Daneel Olivaw."
no subject
"Everything ain't well, and there doesn't seem to be much we can do about it," He said and gave a nod at the other's introduction, "Logan."
no subject
Someone else might have smiled a little at that. Daneel didn't, his expression unchanging.
"I admit to some pleasure that the threat of aggressive large carnivores seems to have passed."
no subject
"It's a little early for safety patrols and fountain watchin' don't you think?" He asks, still squinting.
no subject
Someone human might shrug there. Daneel doesn't; he just says it, looking politely at Logan.

Daneel is aware he needs to explain himself properly. Better to be honest about these things. "I am not human, but a humaniform robot. There are a number of biological functions that I don't possess."
no subject
"Overindulgence," Logan repeated with a half snarl. "I'm not in the mood for yer robot sass. Got it?"
He moved his hand from scratching through his hair to rubbing through his sideburns and half stifles a yawn. "I ain't human either. Dunno how I can heal from a god damn bullet wound, but I can't handle a hangover," He grumbled.
no subject
Daneel is just slightly drawn aback by Logan's reaction. "I apologise. I meant no disrespect, sir. It was merely meant as a statement of fact."
That he says he isn't human is... interesting. He wouldn't have guessed that, not at all. Daneel... doesn't really know how to deal with people who look human, seem human, act human, but aren't. "If I may ask, if you're not human, what precisely are you?"
no subject
He glances over at Daneel, eyes narrowed. Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut for two minutes?
"Uh, mutant. Evolved human."

His arms go to wrap around Daneel as he flings his weight at his super-awesome robot friend. Sure, they live a whole 45 seconds apart now, but Daneel used to be upstairs. It's not the same, so he gets a tackle.
no subject
"Kobra. I'm pleased to see you are well."
no subject
"How's shakes? Stiles win your heart yet, too?" He wasn't bitter at all, except for all the bitterness! Dan and Lyds were his and he could share them, but they were still his first, even if Stiles had technically known Lydia longer.
no subject
"Stiles and I haven't formed any particular friendship, no. Have you spoken to Lydia recently about him?"
no subject
He sighed. "Forget Stiles. How're you?"
no subject
"You should speak with Lydia," he settles for saying. "I don't believe the situation is as plain as you seem to believe."
There. That's... a safe enough course of action.
"I am as well as can be expected. I'm very pleased to see you today, Kobra. I find that I miss your presence in the house."
no subject
"I miss you, too, Dan." He gave Dan a sloppy kiss on the cheek. "You're a way better cuddler than my brother and you smell a lot nicer."
Oh, he knew the whole situation with Lydia. They'd just been having fun and then she'd
replaced himdecided she had feelings for someone and that was just fine, because Kobra could just find another person to sleep with. That was all it had been. Sex. Whatever. Stupid girls."I'll talk to Lyds when she talks to me." So take that, Lydia!
no subject
"I wasn't aware I had any particular smell," he said. He's getting used to Kobra's casual kisses, though it still strikes him as an odd gesture to be directed at him.
no subject
"You can totally come over to our place sometimes, though. If you want or whatever." He grinned. "Open invitation." Okay, it was more like a poorly worded request. He wanted Daneel to come visit sometimes.
no subject
"I will certainly visit you, if you wish it." That goes beyond fulfilling what Kobra might want, astonishingly. Daneel smiles faintly; he actually genuinely wants to make a point of visiting his friend, even if social calls aren't really something he's supposed to do.

Playing games with humans is always a little troubling. He's never really certain whether it's better to let them win or not. He thinks that with Kobra he could make an effort to play properly, but he doesn't care about winning in any event.
For now, though, he puts his arm around Kobra, because if Kobra's going to lean on him then he's going to make sure that he's properly supported.
