The Return

Who: the Doctor, open
Where: the edge of the woods, by the ocean side. Southwest of the island
When: Day 34
What: The Doctor returns, and is surprised to find himself in a somewhat familiar location.

At first there were echoes of crashing waves in the distance, growing louder and more distinct when the Doctor finally opens his eyes. Odd... I don't remember landing-- He startles, sitting up only to feel something on his wrist and he quickly recognizes the communicator.

"I've been here before." But he didn't remember how he had left or how he had returned. Nor did he remember any events up to this point, as if his memory had been tampered. Resting his elbows on his knees, he sat there looking around before running hands through his hair.

After a while, he taps on the communicator, sending out a video to the network, "Hi! Hello! Anyone out there?"

She draws away and places her hands on her hips. A bit of emotion is fine. Genuine emotion is still... a little weird to an extent. "So tell me what gaps you have, and I'll see what I can do about filling them in."

Look, Mom. Something even Sharon can do.

She bites her lower lip so hard it looks as if she's about to make herself bleed. It's... disappointing, to say the least, and she wonders what could make the scientists drag the Doctor away so soon. But then he mentions something else, on the tip of his tongue, and despite herself, she feels a ray of hope.

"Anything about people in lab coats?"

"You won't like it." She rests her hands on her hips, and though she's comfortable in her clothes, it still feels weird not to have her bullet-resistant clothing beneath her touch. She's still wearing her outfit, but it's beneath her jeans and an oversized sweater. She doesn't want people to see the holes in her uniform, though she had managed to wash out most of the bloodstains.

"A box appeared at the fountain containing a Norse deity who had evidently been tortured and, when free, thought he was at Ragnarok and set about destroying as much as he could. They stopped refilling our food supplies; I had the food that was left moved for safekeeping and rationing, but Edgar Stane, our new self-appointed mayor, stole all the reserves. We also tried escaping. It didn't go well."

Because Sharon had screwed up. She'll admit it if she has to, but if it's all the same to the Doctor, she'd rather not.

"What about you? Did you go back to your home universe at all?"

Her lips quirk faintly when he mentioned he'd missed quite a bit. That was... putting it lightly. Her grin disappears when he says he doesn't know what had happened. The pause... Does it indicate a lie, or does he honestly not know?

"They kidnapped Dr. Banner. He escaped as the Hulk and unfortunately went on something of a rampage. Your timing is horrible, Doctor. You missed everything."
agentx13: (z: pleased - almost)

"Time for the... right." She could swallow that he was an alien, but the rest is still a touch difficult for her. She's even seen time travel before, but a TARDIS sounds... well. Not that it matters unless he can build another one.

"Maybe you can take the rest of us with you next time." She rests her hands on her hips, keeping her thoughts to herself. As far as she can tell, he didn't escape. They took him and brought him back later, but he hadn't escaped. Their captor had been in control the entire time.

"Not everyone has returned with their memories, so you're already ahead of the pack. Do you remember Dr. Banner or someone named Sherlock Holmes?"

"I hope so, Doctor." She looks back toward the town, frowning. Hope lies more often than not. She glances back to the Doctor and nods toward town. "Where are you staying these days?"

She considers for a moment, then shrugs. "There's a free room in my house. One room is... spoken for. But the other is free."

"What makes you think I have a normal sleep-wake schedule?" She's only half teasing. In the end, though, she just shrugs. "You don't have to, but if you find you wouldn't mind having me as a housemate - complete with all the visitors-at-all-times and papers and experiments - then you're welcome to it."
