IDK my BFF Donna?
Who: Castiel, Donna, the Doctor, Mina
Where: Donna's house
When: night of day 53
What: The Doctor asks for his friends to bring back his best mate.
The Doctor was anxious, wondering if what he's asking would singly be the worst decision he's ever made. Really, this was utterly ridiculous as he had no access to the TARDIS or anything familiar to him if something were to go wrong. If all else failed, at least he would've had the chameleon arch to rewrite her memories.... Or he'd just have to go hiding them again himself, which he really wasn't sure if he could do that again.
He was so lost in his thoughts, he didn't realize he was causing his knuckles to show white as he squeezed his thermos to death as he sat on the front steps to Donna's house. It was filled with tea, of course, as if that would make matters any more pleasant.
Let's have some friends over, yeah? You, me, Castiel, Dr. Barrett... Donna had seemed fine with the idea at the time he mentioned it in passing to her one afternoon. He just hoped this worked or else he would feel even worse than he had just a couple nights ago after an unfortunate meeting with the Hulk.

"You know... a girl might mistake your doorstep brooding for stalking. I could scream for help, if you like. Or you could drag that skinny arse of yours inside. Whatever works."
no subject
She was dressed in her finest, her full suit with the blazer, tie neatly tied, all of her rings shining, and her fedora tilted at a jaunty angle, over one eye. If they were going to play at house party, Mina was certainly dressed for her role, though she did have her medical kit hanging off of her arm instead of a purse.
Politely, gentlemanly, she bowed her head to Donna. "Much obliged for the invitation, my dear."
no subject
"I don't think he's stalking you, but if you're concerned, I can keep a closer eye on him." The irony of this offer was lost on him.
no subject
"One day you'll be thanking me being so vigilant!" Oh that ego of his never turned off, did it?
He did notice Castiel looked a little worse for wear, but wasn't sure how to say something to him about it. Everyone seemed to be in a tight spot as of late; and who could blame them? Everyone wanted to get home.
no subject
She smiled at her group of guests and pushed the door open all of the way. "Well you lot, coming in? Or we going to stand around on the doorstep gabbing all night?"
no subject
To her, anyway.
Mina cast an amused, sideways glance at Castiel. "Darling, do remind me to teach you a bit about the art of small talk sometime."
no subject
He stepped inside, looking around curiously. He'd been in Donna's home once before, but it had been when she'd been suffering from her headaches.
no subject
Except, perhaps, for this very moment as he searched through Donna's cabinets for mugs. Somehow he didn't seem to know how to breach the subject of the white elephant in the room - everyone knew why they were here except Donna herself, and he felt a bit guilty about that.
"Erm, sorry for short notice." He commented as he clanked the mugs down on the countertop. "Not having a headache right now, I don't suppose?"
no subject
She offered a smile. "But I'm not curled up under a pile of blankets, so I consider today a good day. Please, make yourselves at home. Seems John already has." Mug thief. "There's cake in the tin."
Donna sat herself down. It was kind of nice to have company. "I'm not sure if my roomie's here or not, but he'll just have to deal with it if he is."
no subject
She sat down next to Donna. At the Doctor's signal, not a moment before, she would begin.
Fortunately, she now had a perfect entry.
no subject
He sat down on Donna's other side and let Mina do the talking. If anything went wrong, he would be right here to help, but he couldn't deny that Mina was better at the talking part and as a doctor, he imagined her questions would be far less suspicious.
After a moment, he let himself cast a quick glance at the Doctor.
no subject
"There you go, Donna! Maybe Mina can think of something... And those silly dreams of yours." He could feel his hearts starting to pick up their beats as he grew more anxious.
no subject
"Oi! My dreams aren't silly! Insane and crazy and terrifying. But they're not silly." She huffed and took the cup, curling her fingers around it.
"Look, they're just headaches. Migraines. I'm fine. I'm always fine."
no subject
Mina dipped her head, forcing Donna to make eye contact with her. That accomplished, she reached out with her willpower, allowing a part of herself to flow into Donna's mind. Some Kindred thought of Dominate as a bulldozer. Mina preferred to think of it as a paintbrush, lightly touching the target.
After all, the mind was a delicate thing.
"You're completely at ease," she told Donna in a hypnotic tone. "You trust the three of us completely. And you want to tell us about your dreams."
no subject
He was a little concerned about this. He didn't think that Mina would hurt Donna on purpose, but what the Doctor had told him did worry him. It was too much like Sam and his wall, though Castiel was pretty confident that if he could tear one down, he could build one that held back what could hurt Donna without holding back everything.
Part of him wondered if Sam's wall would have done this eventually, though, especially given how hard he scratched at it himself.
no subject
He just didn't need two friends burning up to crisps.
no subject
"It's wonderful and terrifying all at once. I travel with him," she pointed in the Doctor's direction. "We travel through space and time in a little blue box that's bigger on the inside - how mad is that? A box that is bigger on the inside!"
The edges of her irises started to take on a golden hue, her headache beginning to kick in. "We save people. And sometimes it feels so real, hardly like a dream at all... more like a distant memory..."
no subject
"Pick a single dream," she instructed Donna. "A specific instance. And tell me about it in as much detail as you can remember."

I walk in eternity, he once said and it was something he lived with. Accepted, even.
Rubbing the back of his neck, he takes a step back, watching Donna intensely. Hopefully it would be one of their happier moments together, such as the dinner party with Agatha Christie, and not one of his Oncoming Storm.

Donna appreciated the comfort Cas offered. She knew from the few times she had tried hugging him that physical contact was hardly his strong point.
"Pompeii. Volcano day. We were there. It was so real. The heat and the ash and the smoke and when I think about it, it's like I can feel it choking me, filling my lungs. And the crying and the panic and the chaos. It feels so real, like I could reach out and touch it."
Tears started to roll down her cheeks as she recalled the vivid dream.
no subject
Assuming any of this worked at all.
no subject
He frowned. "You intend to do this for every memory?"
no subject
And crouching down between Mina and Donna, "The way she remembers it is exactly what happens." He wasn't going to hide the fact he didn't want to help the people, was willing to let them all die without blinking an eye, that Donna's pleas were the ones to push him into actually doing something and investigating things a bit further.
Speaking softly, "How much access to the memories do you need?" He could guide Mina to the locked memories, but from there he wasn't entirely sure how to separate the good from the bad.
no subject
She wanted to run. Run and hide and pretend everything was a okay and she was fine.
"I'm sorry, but I think I want you all to go now..."
