Who: Donna and the Doctor
What: Donna is freaking out
Where: House 3
When: Day 58 - early hours
Warnings: A freaking out Donna? That's a warning, right?
Donna knew something was up the moment she woke up - and not just because she was awake before dawn, which in and of itself was strange, but no, it was more than that. Something was different. She was different. Her head felt as though it was filled with a million different roundabouts with billions of speeding cars of them. Even without looking at a clock she knew exactly what time it was - that was also weird, her sense of time was usually rubbish.
She sat up with sudden realisation. Oh hell no. No. No way! "Oh. My. God."
Within seconds she was out of bed and tugging on some clothes. She didn't even bother with her hair and make-up as she rushed out of the house, across the path to house three, banging on the door desperately. "DOCTOR!!! Doctor!!!! Wake up!!!!"

He's trying to tuck his shirt back in and straighten his jacket when he throws open the door to find Donna there looking equally panic-stricken.
"What?" He finishes buttoning the last one on his jacket, nervously glancing back inside before deciding to take a step out and closing the door. "What's going on?"
no subject
"Feel!!" It was the only warning he received before she grabbed both of his hands and pulled them to her chest. Luckily, it wasn't because she was some sex-crazy lady, but rather because there was most definitely two hearts pounding away.

And he dropped her hand looking at her, "I don't understand."
no subject
"That's not all. My head is like a super highway of information. And I can tell you the time exactly, right down to the nanosecond..."
no subject
"I'm human." His mind was so quiet, and it was strange. He couldn't reach to her temples and open up a link between them, he couldn't taste the air, he couldn't sense the time. It was all so quiet.
"Did you just wake up...?" Because he hadn't been awake more than an hour, and then seeing Sharon.... Yeah, he was going to try to forget any of that happened.
no subject
"Yeah, I woke up not long ago and knew exactly what time it was. It was odd."
She frowned and felt his pulse. A single pulse. A racing one, but a single one nonetheless. She slid her hands to his chest, one left, one right. Only one heart.
"Okay. This is really weird. If you're human... does that mean I'm Time Lord?! Well that's just wizard!" Terrifying, that's what it was. Terrifying.

Rassilon, he hoped this wasn't permanent.
"C'mon, let's go for a walk." He needed air, it was so suffocating only having one heart, and his nerves were shot.

She gave a nod and took hold of his hand again, curling her fingers around it. Noticing for the first time just how warm it felt in hers. A stark contrast to usual. "You're warm..."

Finding a bench somewhere, he takes a seat, looking at the scenery around him, before turning back to Donna, "You OK? It's a bit different, isn't it?" She was most likely inundated with sensory overload and must've found it strange to be processing it all.
He pauses, feeling sad he wasn't also an Time Lord to help her, but brings her hands to his temples, " And are you able to figure out how to look inside?" He missed this more than anything, not having another to reach out to. He supposed it was a very alien thing to do.
no subject
"It's like being hit with a speeding train of thoughts and sensations all at once. How do you even cope?" But despite all the overload, it didn't have that same pain she had had before. It was overwhelming, certainly, but it wasn't killing her, she wasn't burning.
She swallowed hard and rested her fingers against his temples just as he had done to her on the Oodsphere. She wanted to insist she didn't know what she was doing, that she didn't know how but somehow she just knew, as though the knowledge had always been there.
And there she was, reaching out to his human mind, trying to make that connection.

Closing his eyes, he felt her thundering into his mind, and it was really quite strange indeed. Nothing like how he experienced it. Although, it was akin to what it was like as a child learning to control it better, but even then it was with another Time Lord.
And yet he felt so limited, as if he were restrained, only allowed limited movement. His senses were dulled and vague, and then he had to pull away. "Oh, definitely weird." He commented, blinking open his eyes.

"Oh and by the way!" Without warning, she smacked him across the arm firmly. Sorry, Doctor. "That's for wiping my memories!"
no subject
But then her words registered, "Wait, what do you remember?" This.. was potentially very bad. Very very bad, and could cause many consequences later.
no subject
She huffed at him. "You wiped my flipping mind! That is rude! Seriously rude!"
no subject
A frustrated sigh, "If it weren't for me, you would've died back then, y'know. I figured not remembering me and what had been was a better alternative than blowing away in the wind as ashes." Oh wait, humans preferred the burial route, didn't they? He'd have to remember that for future reference.
"You should be thanking me." He crosses his arms and looks away.
no subject
"You left me as an empty shell. How is that living? How is that better than dying happy?" It was all so confusing in her mind, timelines blurring. The memoryless days and the memory days criss-crossing, trying to merge.
"I got engaged to a guy. I'm not even sure I love him, not really. But you know why I said 'yes'? Really? The real reason? Because I was scared no one else would want me..."
no subject
"I couldn't do it." His hands slipped away and his fingers curled around the bench seat. "Every thing that happened was entirely my fault, and stupidly I dragged everyone into it, thinking everything would be fun," his voice grows soft, "I just wanted things to be fun..."
Finally he looks over to her, "I couldn't let you die like that, Donna. Not when it was entirely my fault, not in the agony you were in. I couldn't; I can't. I just can't."
no subject
She sighed. "There was no way around it, really, touching the hand, I mean. If I hadn't then I would've died anyway and the universe would've been destroyed."
Donna looked over at him and lifted her hand to stroke his cheek. "It wasn't your fault. It was just one of those things. Still mad at you for wiping my mind though."
no subject
His features soften, "There's nothing I can do about it. I jut hope I don't have to go about it again if you ever go back to being a human. I just got you back, I don't know if I lose you again."
no subject
"God, seriously though, how do you cope with all this noise in your head? Is there a volume switch? Tell me there's a volume switch!"
no subject
"Nope!" When that was the only thing you knew, he didn't know any different. Years and years spent at the Academy and studies and training, one learns to filter through what was important and what wasn't. Unfortunately Donna had skipped that lesson, and his own thoughts were so quiet, he didn't know what to do anymore.
no subject
"Ugh it's like a timey-wimey motorway in my head. No wonder you babble and talk so much. It's chaotic up here."
no subject
"Just focus on the now, don't be prying into other's timelines. That should ease you up a bit." He was good at filtering that out, and when he needed to, he would investigate.

Being a Time Lady was really, really hard. "And it's flipping weird having two hearts..."

Donna also hoped this was a short-term thing. Sure, it was great to have bragging rights and claim she had been a Time Lady, but she'd rather be human again now, thanks. She might not be a particularly significant human, but she'll take it over being the last pseudo-Time Lord. "Yeah. Me too..."
