there's a mirror here it doesn't smile, it picks apart the pieces now for nothing
Who: Laura Hawley and Jet Star (tentative spots for Ned, Nathan and the Hulk maybe later?); semi-open see notes!!!
What: Ghosts gotta ghost
When: Day 58 and 59!
Where: Chilling at the grocery store being upset.
Warnings: Death musing I guess?
Notes: If you want to do something with Laura during her frustrated!ghost period, just give me a buzz on AIM or plurk or something first to let me know, since I don't want to get swamped with all the things in one fell swoop. That said, people who I've discussed with, pick a day and rough time to tag in and have at it!
Also bear in mind humans can't see her, but if any are around and want to handwave being ~spooked~ feel free!
It's a pretty horrific shock at first. The clock hit midnight and suddenly Laura isn't in the attic talking to Conrad, she's lying outside and staring up at the stars. It takes her a moment to realise just where it is that she's lying, but when it clicks, rest assured she screams all over again. She screams and screams for what feels like hours, and when she's done screaming she cries, and when she's done with that she drops down to sitting on the floor.
Sitting on the floor is what ends up leading her to realise two very important things. Number one, the clothes she's wearing have somehow changed - she's no longer in the loose shirt and shorts she'd been wandering around the house in. It's the bloodstained t shirt and jeans instead, and that sets off another bout of screaming. The screaming triggers more panicking, the panicking leads to a fight or flight hysteria, and she scrabbles to back through the door hanging open to the grocery store. It's not until she is inside that she sees the communicator that has been permanently attached to her wrist for the last few weeks.
The problem is, it's sitting on the floor just inside the door. Somehow it must have fallen off, and she has to go get it. She needs to call for help, someone will know what to do about all this weird stuff. It can't just be her, right? When she dips down to pick up the communicator, her fingers slip right through it, and suddenly everything gets more scary.
And then, just in case all of this wasn't quite bad enough, while she's staring in horror at her hand passing through the device, the shop door blows shut in the wind.
Guess who can't push doors open? This guy.
Time to start trying to pick up that damn communicator...and keep trying...and keep trying, until someone comes along who can actually see her.

DAY 59
Laura, he can't find. He tries, he looks everywhere, but she's missing. Still - something tells him maybe he should look through the city again, that she isn't actually gone, that she's not vanished like Party. There's something going on, it's not the same, and so he can condition himself to be calm. It's fine.
For whatever reason, he's drawn to the grocery store.
Jet hasn't had to eat, which is new, so he's not sure why he's here now, but he is. For a long moment, he stands in front of the building, staring up at it, and then, a little loudly, calls: "Laura? Are you in there?" There's something about it. He can - feel her presence.

...It's probably a good thing that no one can hear her, because the majority of the first day was spent crying.
As it is, by the time Jet comes looking for her she's gotten more of a handle on things, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't jump up when she hears his voice, run to the window and unsuccessfully try to bang on it. She literally shouts at the top of her voice, though she's not really banking on him hearing her anyway, but she has to try. She;d given up, but it's Jet.
"Hey! Hey, in here! Dude, I'm in here! Can you see me? Please, Jesus, please tell me you can see me."

The first thing he sees is Laura's fist banging against the window, and then he hears her shout, loud and almost panicked like she's been trying to get people's attention for the last two days. She probably has. But she's there, and she's - well, she looks alive, but Jet has the suspicion that she isn't. Still, Jet doesn't hesitate. He looks relieved, heading straight for the store, and he ends up - well, teleporting, on accident, with his haste to get there.
He's right next to her in an instant, with a flutter of wings, and he looks so glad to see her it almost hurts. "Laura. Yes, I see you, I -" He's a little speechless with how happy he is that she's here. "I had been looking for you."

"I've been here the whole damn time, I can't-" she sighs and shoves a hand through her hair, letting out a clearly frustrated huff of air, "I can't leave. I can't get out of the friggen' door, and I'm in these again."
She gestures to the clothes she's wearing - stuck back in the outfit she died in - and just shakes her head. It takes a moment, another little pause following before she continues, but finally she mumbles. "Jet I think I'm dead. You know, again."

Still, Jet's just glad she's - here. Alive or not. It's selfish, but Jet rarely allows himself to be.
"I think it's an unfortunate - ah, event. It seems to have spread through the town," Jet tells her, very slowly reaching to see if he can rest his hand on her shoulder. He can't. It goes through. Frowning, Jet pulls his hand back.
"I wish that I could say how long this was going to last, but for now... yes, it does appear you're less than alive." Which he says gently and in a voice that doesn't sound happy at all. "Do you think that you have the potential to leave?"
