Tell his reverence your story
Who: Raphael and Mystique
Where: The Church
When: Day 99
What: Mystique is snooping around, Raphael is haunting the church.
The church is a very small stone church, typical of New England style. The exterior is made of stone of various colors and sizes, a mix of large stones with very small ones to fill in the gaps. At the rear of the church is the entrance, a simple doorway with a low stoop and three stairs, made of the same stone as the exterior. Framing the doorway on both sides and over the door are stained glass windows.
The doorway opens to small foyer, used mostly as a mudroom to keep the inner sanctuary clean and protected from the elements. There are hooks for coats, with a shelf over top the rows for hats or small items. On the right hand side as you enter is a small bench. Another set of simple doors opens to the church. Along the back wall are two pews, used by those who were last to services or those with young children. The rest of the church has six rows of pews, in two columns, leaving a wider center aisle and two narrower aisles on the sides. The pews, pulpit, benches, and shelves are made from wood, sanded smooth, the interior walls are a cream color, and the carpet is dark color, showing some stains and wear in high traffic areas. The ceiling is an open rafter ceiling, with beams of dark, knotty wood forming the cross beams and trellises. The trellises join with the center beam which run the length of the church.
At the front of the church is the altar and pulpit, which take up the entire front. The altar is quite simple - a small step at kneeling height and another about the right height to rest elbows, running the length of the front of the church. The altar and the stage have carpeting - it's now a deep, vibrant, rich green, with thick padding on the kneeling bench of the alter. Back a couple feet from the altar, and at the same height, is the stage and centered on it is the pulpit. Nothing more than a simple podium, the pulpit has the last two windows of the church framing it so when sunlight is shining in, the light is behind whoever is standing at it.
Behind the church itself, is a low set of storm doors, leading to a community cellar/storm shelter - there are only two windows, low and near the front of the church.
Raphael wanders slightly, something somewhat nonhuman about his posture - he's too still, as if stiff but his movements are fluid. Shoulders are square, set but not tense. Given his ease in the building, given his fine suit, he could be mistaken for a religious leader.

She'd started at the church, partially because she figured it'd be empty and partially because it was the closest thing to her new abode. She pushed the door open quietly and slipped inside, wandering around for half a minute before she spotted him.
"Oh. Um... hello there. I expected this place to be empty," She said honestly, straightening a little as she looked him over.

But when he's spoken to, he turns. His baring doesn't match the Donnie's age, something both much older than a man in his thirties, and something (somehow) younger. Regardless, it's focused on her, a quiet study that unnerves most, as Raphael rarely blinks and maintains eye contact. He doesn't - completely - mean it to be. He's always had that owlish look to him. "Hello. Where you seeking solitude?" Many did, and Raphael doubted he'd actually leave, but he didn't need to say that.

His question threw her off guard however, and she almost instantly relaxed a little. "Solitude? Not really. Just trying to get the layout of this place - the town, I mean, not the church," She explained with slight disinterest, "Are you some kind of priest, or something where you're from?"
A church just seemed like an odd place to hang out to Mystique, but then again religion had always left a bit of a bad taste in her mouth.

"There isn't much to the town, but I'd advise you to be careful in the woods. Dire wolves, velociraptors, smilodons, and robotic bears prowl them, and they have a way of sapping away powers that those who are something other than human posses." There's a note of authority to it as well as experience. "Not many come here in to wander, though I suppose where their a larger population, more would." He knew people who did.
"Or something, yes." A saint, an archangel. "Do I look like it? You're the second to ask that question."

"The weird animals in the woods can sap powers? Is that what you just said?" She had to be sure, because that was, well, not something she was keen on experiencing.
"Only people I know who hang out in churches are the ones who run them," She shrugs and looks around a little.

"Or those who grew up in scared places." Which was what Heaven was, fundamentally. And he'd grown sheltered under Michael's wings - what could be more scared?
