When: After whenever Lydia posted to the network that Bruce disappeared, Steve asked her to tell everyone interested in finding him to meet up at the fountain.Where: Fountain!

Steve's at the fountain, checking his wristwatch in case anyone calls, making ocassional rounds because he's anxiously waiting to leave. He's carrying his shield, which looks rather out of place with his civvies.

He was at home, so he brought a couple bike helmets and some small weapons for people to carry into the woods, just in case.

Phil's been checking the town up and down. He's been in every building looking for any clue of Banner. There's nothing. There isn't even the sign of a struggle in the house he'd been in.

This is driving Phil crazy. People can't just disappear, especially not his people. Natasha and now Banner and Rogers disappearing and coming back without memories. He should be protecting them. What if Clint or Sharon are next?

He's walking through the cemetery when he sees something glint by the shore. He starts to walk towards it and it's... the shield?

He squints as he gets closer. "Captain Rogers!" He runs the rest of the way to the man, kneeling down to help. "Easy."

"Hey," he says, trying to smile and feeling like he might hurl instead. It's not a strange feeling, but it's one he hasn't had for awhile. "I was looking for you," he says. "There's something in the water. Didn't get a good look before it dragged me under. Think it's strong enough to take down a boat, if we build one. Think it might be what destroyed the docks."

He tries to stand up, at least, but the thought makes him dizzy and the action makes him fall forward, though it takes until he hits something solid for his mind to catch up with his body. "We'll have to fly."

"Let's make a mental note to warn Sam." He manages to not roll his eyes, but just barely. "That kid wanted to build a boat to get out there last time we talked."

He wraps an arm around Steve's torso, trying to help him. "Let's get you home." He tries to give Steve some stability, ready to take on a good amount of his weight. Phil's stronger than he looks and he's never been more thankful for that.

"No," he says, sternly, trying to give his best stare and ending up with something borderline hilarious. "We have to find Dr. Banner. If there's nothing in town, I said we'd go together into the forest."

He tries to be funny. Good god, he tries to be funny. "Got my orienteering badge in the Boy Scouts. You're gonna need someone who can find their way around."

"Something tells me Agent Carter can... orienteer, Captain Rogers." Phil at least hopes that she can since she voluntarily went into the woods. She seems smart enough to understand these things.

"Listen, we're just going to get you home for a quick nap and then we'll meet the others. I'm sure they're fine." Well, that's a blatant lie. Who knows what could be out there? He's still not sending Steve into the woods when he can barely stand.

"Phil... I'm not sure what you're trying to pull, but now's not the time to joke around. How are you going to catch up to Sharon's group?" he asks, trying his hardest during a moment of clarity to get up and stand straight and square his shoulders and look like he's ready to go.

He's not even fooling himself, really.

"We at least need to call, make sure that no one else got... drugged, or whatever this is."

"We'll get right on top of that, but first you need to rest." He won't take no. Taking care of his people is part of his job.

"Let's get you home and then we can check in on them."

"I'm coming with you," he says, but welp when the hell did the ground get so close to his face?

And okay, maybe it's time to go home.

"With all due respect, you're really not." Phil can handle himself just fine. He's not so sure that he can say the same for Rogers.

"The serum will sort it out by the time we get to the woods," he says, trying very hard to sound convincing. Okay, and either Coulson's upside-down, or Steve's still on the ground. Whoops. Better try and pick himself up.

That'd be cool if his arms were moving.

"Steve," His voice is calm and even. "I'm pretty sure I could subdue you right now, so maybe we can just skip past that part and pretend it's already happened."

He offers Steve more support so he can try to stand up.

He... okay, he gives in and takes Phil's support. "I can really do this, you know. I'll be ready as soon as you get me home. So let's hurry up and do that." And then his face softens. "Thank you, Phil."

"I know. You'll be fine." He isn't so sure that he's telling the truth, but he's going to do his best for his people and Steve's near the top of that list. He's one of Phil's people and that counts for just about everything here. "You just need to sit down a little."

"Alright, but I'll call you as soon as I'm standing again and you'll tell me where you went off to in the woods, alright?" It's dangerous out there; he's not leaving. He refuses to leave.

"Of course. As soon as I know you're not a danger to yourself, you're out there with us." Phil is hardly a mother hen. He sends his closest friends into deadly situations on a regular basis. That doesn't mean he'll send them in when the risk outweighs the ends. He calculates odds and the odds are not happening when Steve can barely stand.

Steve realizes he's being selfish. He has no need to be a hero, and there's someone out there that needs their help. "Then your group should move out," he states. "I'll catch up with you." He swears he will, on his honor.

Phil sighs. If he's not going to take the help Phil keeps trying to offer, Phil can't force him. He can take some weight, but he can't drag him, at least not without hurting him. "Alright. You think you can get yourself home, then?"

"Yeah," Steve replies. "Got all the way down here by myself. It's not that far. You bring Dr. Banner and the Agent Romanoffs home, alright?" He claps a hand on Phil's shoulder. It's supposed to be assuring but...

...It's sort of more like he paws Phil's shoulder because he needs the support.

Ouch. The poison bypassed the serum and didn't even think to make Steve less heavy-handed.
