Oops, bad idea, but too late, since he moves to cover his eyes with a forearm. "Yes. Move that out of my face." He doesn't mean to bark - Gabriel being gone, Lucifer being...well himself, now this, his temper is frayed.

"I'm so sorry!" She stammers out, reaching down and grabbing the cane, before she manages to get a hand on the flashlight. "I didn't mean... I... I'm so sorry St. Raphael."
Brigid wishes her leg was good enough to kneel but she can't. It still hurts too much.

Those who have never been so powerless fear it - he doesn't know how to do this either.

Brigid licks her lips. "Are you alright?" She feels the need to ask that, because she doesn't have any powers. If others do, then it's individual, if not...
She really hates this place. Except, there's really nothing for her to go home to. No pack, no alpha. She needs to worry about that later. Right now, she has other things to worry about.

"I've been better." It's an understatement and dry. "You look the same." He'd figured out it wasn't just the angels.

Brigid licks her lips. "Can I help you, St. Raphael?" She asks, tentatively. She doesn't know what to say. She's left him alone, convinced her prayers have been bothering him.

He knows, beyond a doubt, that he could demand her light. But that would leave her in the dark and he won't take that from her. "Walk with me a while." He's beg forgiveness later from wandering. Brigid had been silent too long to account for sleeping while healing, he wanted to know why.

Brigid offers him the end of a second flashlight. It's something her Da had taught her about being prepared. And if he's blind down here, it can't be anything but a help.
no subject
He took the flashlight, turning it over in his hands before figuring out how to turn it on, and letting the light beam bounce off the wall of the tunnel, and almost instantly transfers it into his left hand. "Could we borrow this?" His brothers and him.
no subject
His question startles her. "Of course!" She almost yelps out. "It's my spare that I brought. I wish I'd brought more." Because a lot of people hadn't been prepared for cave exploration. Then again, she hadn't thought she wouldn't be able to get back.
no subject
"You are allowed to say no." In some things, anyway. Others he might insist more. Regardless he was grateful for the flashlight, since he didn't believe any of them had one.
no subject
"And if it helps you, it's the least I can do." Brigid is generous, almost to a fault.
no subject
"I don't pretend to understand why humans, or close enough, do what they do. Or don't. It makes me curious, but not enough to force the issue without good reason." And he didn't just mean the flashlight.
no subject
His comment about not doing things makes her cheeks heat and she stares at the ground. Her feet scuff along the rock for a moment. "Sometimes, humans don't do something, or stop doing something, because they were told it was an imposition to others. And they've no wish to be a bother."
She's lived most of her life, trying to stay in the shadows, to stay out of the way. Brigid doesn't need the spotlight, nor does she want it.

"You can pray or not as it comforts you, I'm not offended. But given the circumstances, it's not the behavior I've come to know from you." He's actually trying not to scold and it's more difficult than most would think.
no subject
"I... St. Gabriel said..." She doesn't even know how to defend herself from his accusations and his scolding.
"I'm sorry, St. Raphael." Brigid whispers, blinking back tears. She just can't.

"St. Gabriel was looking for you, I believe." And he'd called her a pet. She isn't anyone's pet. "He said that my prayers were bothersome and far too loud. He snapped that I thought of all of you as cherubs and docile and benevolent." Brigid looks up at the archangel near her. "I don't believe that. Angels are the Swords and Hands of God. You are Soldiers first, meters of justice, and only kind and benevolent after all of that."
She lowers her eyes again, not wanting to cause trouble. "I have no wish to bother anyone. Most especially those that hold my existence in their hands." She'd learned that lesson the hard way. "He seemed... angry about my faith. I decided to keep it to myself, so as to keep my intrusion to a minimum."
no subject
"As for intruding on us? My younger brother can wear earplugs, and if Gabriel takes exception to it, call to me." Because for all he did love Gabriel and didn't want to push him away...he would enforce the hierarchy, and ruthlessly so if he had to.
no subject
But there isn't much she can say. That sounds almost like a Command, and Brigid is nothing, if not obedient. "Yes, St. Raphael." Her faith isn't shaken. Not at all. It's just difficult to not cower in the face of such complete authority in front of her.
no subject
"If you mention one of us by name, we'll hear it and the others won't. Open prayers, all can hear, even to our Father. Conversely you can exclude one in the same way." So ignoring Gabriel was an option as well.
no subject
Brigid licks her lips. "I didn't mean to offend your brother, St. Raphael. He seemed angry that I dared... well, have any faith at all." She doesn't understand and she wants to. She does, but nothing makes sense.

"I meant no trouble for him. I hope we find him." No one should miss family, if possible to avoid it.
