Catch-all Tunnel Log

Who: Raphael and Open
When: Day 121
Where: The tunnels
What: Failing all over the place
Notes: If you want something specific, just let me know.

Stane, some other warning, and then Gabriel had disappeared - Raphael hadn't wasted time in going to Michael and pointing out they needed to go - if it was an escape, then they could retrieve Gabriel.

They just hadn't know the tunnels bore complications.

Having little to no reason to want to hang around the town, especially with that option sounding dangerous for everyone, Samandriel had gone willingly into the tunnels with his brothers and everyone else. It had been worrying enough on it's own, but once they got in and lost use of their powers, well... It was near impossible for him to not find himself anxious about it all. Especially since he knows now that Crowley's around.

He sticks close to the group of his siblings--or at least, the ones that he can. Even if they're all just as powerless as him, he still somehow manages to feel safer around them, although certainly not as much so as usual. As they walk, he remains relatively silent, instead peering around with fairly nervous glances, even wringing his hands without really realizing it as he picks his pace up a little, sticking close to Raphael for the time being.

A glance is cast toward his brother for a moment, then Samandriel's eyes flit off in an effort to see...something. Some sign that they're nearing the end because the longer they're down here, the more confined and weak he feels, the jumpier he gets.

Unable to help it, Samandriel nearly jumps when he feels the hand on his shoulder. It's unexpected, and while he's already as jumpy as he is, it's nothing short of startling. However, once he looks over and sees it's just Raphael, as he should have anticipated, he manages to relax a slight bit and offers a small nod in response to the comment.

"Yes, I-- ...Yes, you're probably right." He agrees quietly, not caring for the way the place echoes around them. Attempting to steel himself now that he realizes just how uncomfortable and anxious he must appear, and even without powers, that's not the sort of image an angel should put out there, he purses his lips and reverts his gaze forward once more. "...I hope you're right. Although we have no idea what lies on the other side of this tunnel..." What if they were without powers even once they emerged? That's something he doesn't even want to consider.

"I have, too," he murmurs, almost more to himself. The loss of sense of direction is just another one of the disconcerting things about this whole situation, really. When Raphael moves closer to him though, and he feels his older brother right against him, Samandriel casts a half-glance over. It's comforting, for certain. Even if they are all without their powers, having an older sibling so close does admittedly make him feel a bit safer, even allows him to relax some.

"It may be a way out, but there could be something waiting for us at the end, don't you think?" He continues on, still quietly, still sounding quite concerned, because he's not entirely sure that he buys this as a way to actual freedom. Especially not given the fact that their powers have been taken from them on the way to this 'way out.'

The fact that Raphael sounds as though he's planning to let others go through the exit first has Samandriel conflicted. On the one hand, it is, of course, a good way of guaranteeing their own safety in exiting, allowing them to know ahead of time what they might be dealing with. But on the other hand...he cares about many of the people down here with them, and if there is something dangerous waiting for them, he doesn't want them to be hurt, or worse.

"No, I... I suppose not, but..." He trails off for a moment, staring ahead into the darkness of the tunnel before slowly dragging his gaze back to rest of Raphael's face. "We're more capable of dealing with dangerous things than most of the others down here, it-- It would be better if we exited first, just in case..." Frightened as he may be down here, and of what may lie beyond, he still wants to protect those that are less capable and durable, and sending them out first to ensure his own safety is about the last thing he wants to do.

"...Oh." Realizing he probably should have realized that, an apologetic look flashes across Samandriel's face. "Of course, that makes more sense." While it's true that Raphael hasn't exactly made it clear to him that he cares enough about the humans that he doesn't want them to suffer, it's also true that he's never heard the archangel speaking lowly of them, either. He should have been able to put it together that Raphael meant a demon rather than a human.

"In that case...it seems like a good idea." Because tossing a demon out first is totally okay, and if there's something waiting for them at the end of the tunnels, he kind of hopes they can throw Crowley out. Although, as far as it goes, he hopes a little more that there's nothing waiting for them.

Feeling somewhat placated by the squeeze to his arm, Samandriel nods, though it's very slight. It's too tough to nod while holding one's body so tensely, and he can't be bothered to try very hard, anyway. He's hoping the end to all this is coming soon too, sharing Raphael's discomfort and the loss of grace. It's what adds to his fear over the whole thing.

"I hope you're right," he murmurs, repeating what he'd said earlier. It's all he can think to say, it's all his mind can focus on now is hoping for thing. That, and all the horrible possibilities, but at least the hope does less to further his fears. "Although that feels as though we'd be getting off lucky around here..."

"If they can hold us at all, who's to say they can't hold us forever?" He can't help but to ask, looking back up at Raphael with worried eyes. It's entirely pessimistic, but considering everything that's happened around here, and the very fact that this place can trap all four archangels, it doesn't leave him with much hope that they'll ever find a way out. Raphael's words don't go unappreciated, it's nice to hear that he doesn't plan on letting anyone harm him or anyone else, but... Well. This place has successfully suppressed all of their powers. There's no way he can truly make a promise like that, not here.

"Your words are kind, but I don't believe any of us can guarantee such things. I don't know that we can guarantee anything while we're here." He shrinks slightly, averts his gaze from the archangel, and shakes his head.

There is a point in what Raphael says, of course, but Samandriel doesn't find himself particularly comforted by that. If anything, it only aids his concern that one or a few of them will end up injured or killed while down here and so utterly powerless to any assault. Thus, he can't find it in himself to reply beyond a curt nod.

"It's not, I'm sure, but when all we truly have is substantial amounts of will..." He trails off for a moment, considering holding his tongue because all this pessimism and worry is hardly the way angels are supposed to behave. He should be holding it more to himself, or entirely to himself, but this has ultimately become more difficult. Crowley had effectively broken him, after all, and all Samandriel seems to find down here in the tunnels are reminders of that. "...I just don't know if that's enough."
