What: Ruby woke up and went exploring instead of playing with the communicator.

Ruby listened to the voice coming from the little device on her wrist. She listened, but she didn't really accept. She pulled her cloak tightly around herself as she stood, looking around at the sleepy-looking town and the strange little fountain.

She huffed a heavy breath in the cool night air, picked a direction and started to walk. She stopped to eye the pile of rubble that used to be the diner before following the road further towards the forest.

She spied an empty house and pushed the door open gently. "Hello?" It was seeming more and more like this was another curse and she wasn't so sure that she wanted to go in.

"I think I'm partial to honey." She watches him bring the tea and she relaxes a little. He seems sweet and he's not flirting with her. It's safe.

He'll offer the bottle, then sit down with his own cup of tea, sipping it and giving a contented hum. "Delicious.

"So. Have you found a place to stay yet?"

[hark_and_hush]

"Not yet." She takes a sip of her own tea, but not before smelling it to make sure nothing is off. In a place like this, she's not sure who she can trust. "I guess I'm still wrapping my brain around this whole thing."

If Kurt notices, he doesn't comment on it, grabbing a cookie and dunking it in the tea. "It takes a little while, yeah. But as far as strange controlled possibly experimental places go, it isn't too bad."

[hark_and_hush]

"All the same, I don't think I'll let myself settle in too much." At least this time, she knows that she's been stolen away. She can look for a way home.

"...I don't think there's much option. We're doing all right, thus far. We have a doctor and everything."

[hark_and_hush]

"We need more than just a doctor to get by. What about food? I can cook for big groups if that helps." Diner experience has some perks. She isn't up to Granny's level, but she can hold her own in the kitchen.

"Unfortunately our diner was flattened recently." Melancholy sigh goes here, but then Kurt brightens. "But you're welcome to use my kitchen, of course."

[hark_and_hush]

"Well, that's a shame. I'm pretty diner-savvy." She smiles. "I might take you up on that, as long as you'll help me eat what I make."

"Are you? Do you work at one back home?"

[hark_and_hush]

She nods. "My Granny owns a diner back home. I work there and she's been teaching me more about running it."

[porcelainpride]

"Really? That sounds fun. Maybe we'll open another one here." Kurt sighs, heavily, propping his chin in his hand. "We need a little normalcy, after all."

She's not so sure she wants to settle so quickly in this place, but she nods anyway. She can start small and just cook a few things. It's not settling in. "At the very least, we can feed a few hungry people."
