what if god was one of us?

Who: Kevin Tran and Chuck Shurley
When: Day 140
Where: The library, which definitely exists even though it's not on the Locations list, and I'm too lazy to go and add it, but it's there.
What: Prophets unite!

With his notes on the angel tablet safely locked away -- at least, he hopes it's safe -- and no pressing need to keep trying to figure them out... Kevin's not sure what to do with himself.

No, he knows just what he wants to do. He wants to play Skyrim until his eyes bleed, and then he wants to go and watch all the movies he's missed in the past few years, and then he wants to -- to -- do whatever he wants. But his options are limited here, which means he doesn't know what to do beyond some experimenting with weird stuff in the kitchen or... going to the library.

He's here to read for fun, he swears, but then he spots a book on ancient languages, and... Well, sure. Why not? It's all he's known basically for a while now.

He sits down with it, and as he reads, he takes notes, but his mind starts wandering, and he winds up staring out the window instead. He's doodling, not even looking at the paper, and why wouldn't he be doodling in Enochian? He's spent so long staring at it that by now he almost has the demon tablet memorized, and some parts of the angel tablet.

When he hears someone coming over to him, he jerks in surprise and his hand goes to cover his book automatically, but he forgets about his notes, doesn't even realize what he's drawn in them.

"Who are you?" He's only met a couple of the archangels, and he doesn't know who this might be.

beep boop, sorry for the horrible. Ignore all the not-good.

All things considered, Chuck spends a fair amount of time in the library.

After all, he is a writer, and one of the most important things a writer can do is read. Especially since his writing material had very recently run out on him. It had vanished into thin air along with his visions. The Supernatural books were popular, somehow, but he couldn't exactly keep writing about the Winchesters without the visions telling him what to write down.

But he had to make a living, somehow. And, with the Apocalypse averted and the angels with no more use for him, he was all on his own. His creativity and imagination were all he had.

But before he can begin to make a living for himself again, the first thing he has to do is get back home. Which is another reason he spends as much time in the library as he does. There was always a possibility that something useful might be hidden on the shelves. He hasn't found anything, not yet, but he's certain he'll know it when he sees it.

However, he wasn't expecting to come across Kevin Tran.

He knows who he is, of course he does. The names of every prophet were seared into the head of every angel, but he was the one who put them there. And so he makes his way over, but then Kevin jumps in surprise and Chuck is quick to follow, startled at the sudden movement. He raises his hands out in front of him in a placating gesture, but also to show that he's not hiding anything, no weapons, no ill-intentions.

"Chuck. Uh, Chuck Shurley, that is." He doesn't clarify beyond that. He doesn't say Prophet of the Lord because he's tried that before, and all it does is make him seem even more crazier than usual.

He nods when Kevin repeats his name because, yes, indeed, that's who he is. "Or, uh. Carver Edlund, I guess?"

Chuck doesn't see himself as a celebrity. He has a small group of fans, sure, but none of them know his real name or, in fact, that any of it is truly real. The sole exceptions being, of course, Sam, Dean and Becky.

And so, when he gives his pen name, he's not trying to gloat or throw his name out there or anything. He's simply trying to ensure Kevin doesn't panic and if it's the name Carver Edlund that does it instead of Chuck Shurley, then he doesn't mind giving it out.

Something he feels pretty silly doing once Kevin asks if he's a prophet. After all, there's only one group of beings that know what he is just by his name. A theory that's only backed up by the Enochian that's doodled on the paper in front of him.

"Oh. Uh, yeah, I am. So... you're an angel, then?" He asks back just as quietly.

And really, it's an easy mistake to make. After all, there were a few angels here he hadn't seen in his visions -- Balthazar and Samandriel -- why wouldn't he assume Kevin wasn't just another one?

"Oh." Not an angel, but another prophet. It takes him a moment to fully comprehend what, exactly, that means because that's -- "Oh."

He supposes that explains the Enochian. After all, he did a decent amount of research when he started getting his visions. As a writer, he felt like the least he could do was be somewhat knowledgeable about the supernatural. He hadn't realized it was real. Not until after his books had stopped being published and his two main character forced their way through his door an into his home.

Suffice to say, he'd done a lot more research, after that. He doesn't know as much as Sam or Dan, of course not, but he's fairly certain he knows the basics.

"I, uh, didn't know there were more of us." And he didn't. When he'd threatened to commit suicide in front of Zachariah, the angel had barely reached. He hadn't said, whatever, he'll just bring in another prophet. He'd told Chuck he'd simply bring him back to life. If he'd know, at the time, there were other people who could take up the title of prophet...

...well, he doesn't know what he'd do.

Although, it was probably for the best. Chuck knows a few years have passed since he'd been home, but Kevin looks young. He would have been even younger in 2009, and he would have felt an incredible amount of guilt, knowing he pushed all that responsibility onto someone who hadn't even entered high school yet.

Because Kevin looks tired. He looks like he hasn't gotten nearly enough sleep for someone who's been pushed to their very limits. Honestly, he looks a lot like how Chuck felt, during the Apocalypse. And he can sympathize, he really can. He's been there. And Sam and Dean are great, they really are, but they just don't get what it means to be a prophet.

"Yeah, I was there during the Apocalypse. Well, I mean, I wasn't there, but..."
godsprophet: (But I still wake up)

No such thing.

Chuck knows this won't be a easy pill to swallow but, he figures, if Kevin's going around with the Winchesters, he would probably appreciate knowing. "I know, uh..." How does he put this without sounding completely horrible? "According to Castiel, thee can only be one prophet at a time. Which, you know, if you're the prophet in the future -- my future -- then, uh, that means... I'm dead?"

He doesn't know how prophets get chosen. He just knows that, apparently, it was his turn to be prophet, then it wasn't. He's not sure how he feels about knowing he only has about two years left to live, but, well... he can't exactly go back and change it, now, can he?

But this... word of God thing... "Oh, uh. I think I've heard of that. The tablets, right? Dean's mentioned them. Something about... leviathans?"

First the Apocalypse, then leviathans. He's not sure he wants to know what could possible be after that.
