Notess: Party style thread guys, so go nuts. No order, everything is chaos, tag to your hearts content, feel free to break off into separate threads, and no spiking the punch! Also I think she's sort of mentioned it to a bunch of people but want to do me some lovely favours and handwave the actual name drawing? I will backtag if people want but it seems a little pointless to thread that out.

There's another message on the network that morning from Anna, just audio again. It's about as garbled as her first one regarding the Secret Santa idea, but for anyone who is listening closely enough they'll make out a few details. Namely this evening, town hall, and bring your presents before she shuts it off.

She's spent the rest of the day trying to do what she can to make the place look nicer. She's hardly got Christmas decorations on tap, but she's done what she can with what she has all the same. There's paper snow flakes up around the place, some of the food from her house placed in bowls to make it more party-appropriate, and it's no fir but she has relocated a small tree from the edge of the woods and placed it in the hall. Barely decorated, not even the right kind of tree, it's the best she can do with the resources she's been given.

Now all there is to do is wait for people to come.

"Better to handwash," Wallie says, and holds out his hand expectantly. God, this guy again. Of all the people who have to come and try to push his buttons. "And I don't think your name was Phil, so if you're not planning on playing postman, you can just give that back."

He shoves a morsel of food into his mouth, swallows hastily, and turns to face Party fully, his hand still out.

"My name is Phil." And I am twelve years old with a matching sense of humor. He switches the woodware to the hand farther from Wallie, tugging at the tie wrapped around them. "Kind of a dick move, giving something that takes all this high fuckin maintenance, right?"

Deep breaths, Wallie. Deep breaths. Shonsu had no business at a party like this. Think of calming things, sane things. Think of Jja, because there was no one saner.

"Kind of a dick move," he repeated back, "being so ungrateful for a present that isn't even yours. Give it back, or I'll take it back."

No. No, that wasn't what he'd meant to say.

It's nice that Wallie tries. Party wets his mouth and grins and takes a few sashaying steps back. "Make me, Chauncey."

Wallie makes himself look away for a moment, breathing slowly, trying to focus. It's too much of a direct challenge, and Shonsu's instincts say to take the little jerk, make an example of him, demean him, humiliate him, slit his throat for insolence to his betters.

He's not Shonsu, and this isn't the World, but Shonsu isn't entirely gone, either. With a sudden movement, Wallie swiftly reached to grab Party by the throat.

For like a split second, he's excited. Like electrically. Like from the tips of his hairs all through every nerve excited. He hasn't actually felt that since he landed here.

Of course, all that good feeling bleeds out his mouth the instant he realizes that he is just not moving very quickly right now and that's his throat his throat his throat--

Thrown off, Party stumbles. One hand clamps around Wallie's wrist for balance; the other goes instinctively for his bowie knife. The knife goes instinctively for Wallie's ribs.

Even if Shonsu's judgement is questionable, there's nothing wrong with his reflexes or his training. His own knife is in his boot, but with his free hand, he wrestles Party's bowie knife out of harm's way, and knocks it to the floor.

And it's easy enough that the part of Wallie's brain that was Shonsu is almost disappointed. Does the guy have any idea of what he's doing? His voice is a fraction calmer when he speaks -- just a fraction, but he still holds Party by the throat. It's not hard enough to hurt him, not nearly, but he's got him firmly all the same. "You trying to get yourself killed?"

"You trying to kill me, fucking--let go, let go!" He's not exactly trained, no. But he's earnest if anything, free hand clawing against Wallie's, caught hand just trying to pull away, just kicking, fucking kicking. He'd be biting if he could, the guy is genuinely terrified. "Stupid bitch, if you don't let me the fuck go--"

"You'll what?" For a moment, Wallie just holds him, grinning fiercely while he enjoyed his victory -- but it's a shameful sort of victory, he knows it, and Party isn't worth a real fight, not nearly. He's no bully, even if Shonsu is.

He lets go, almost shoving Party back as he does. "You still want to run off with someone else's Christmas present?"

"Fuck you!" It's right on the tip of he tongue when Wallie lets him go, waiting like another useless knife. The gift is safe on the table, and his hand circle around his own neck protectively. "What's wrong with you?!"

A lot of things. Oh, yes, arguably there are quite a lot of things wrong with him, and Shonsu is definitely too strong right now because he's quite sure he'd enjoyed that.

"Pick up your knife," he says, gesturing to the fallen bowie knife. "Where I come from, I would have the right to execute you for carrying that, much less pulling it on me."

Oh, those are Shonsu's words. Damn.

"You all right?"

"Yeah, where I come from I don't give a shit about your right to execute." He's pretty quick to grab the blade, though. Futile though it may be, that's a security item. Party scoffs at the question. "You're kidding me, right? Am I alright?"

"Yeah. Are you all right?"

Just because he lost his temper doesn't mean he really wants to beat the crap out of random assholes, either. Wallie runs his hand over his hair.

"If you want to go around picking fights, that's your business, but do you really want to try picking fights with me?"

"I wasn't picking fights, I was teasing, slowbus. Do they not tease on you planet? Don't fucking touch me again." Is he alright. Like he's some kid caught playing with a knife or something, what an asshole. Party's quite fine though, aside from the violent, embarrassed blush flooding over his cheeks. He packs his knife back away and turns to get the fuck outta dodge. "Give Phil a kiss for me. Sure he'll just love those."

Wallie's pretty sure he was better about being teased when he was entirely himself. It's Shonsu who apparently can't take it -- from someone who's, what, half his size? Christ. Sometimes he really can't stand Shonsu.

"Yeah. Yeah, you stay out of my way, I won't touch you."

Well all that attitude is going to get will be a militant middle finger. That's for you. Merry Christmas.
