Welcome to the Jungle...
Who: Sharon Carter and the other freedom fighters.
Where: THE WOODS. The big bad scary woods!
When: Day 31
What: Escape attempt numero uno.
Sharon stands facing the forest, standing perfectly still and breathing calmly. One hand rests on her hip with her gun, the other is held in front of her face so she can see the comm. What no one on the comm can see is that she's also holding her knife. You can never be too careful when planning to take on unknown legions of men that had managed to capture the Hulk. And Natasha. And Tony Stark. And her aunt.
And a bunch of kids. And Barton. And a Steve.
Really, it's hard to tell where these people screwed up first. Messing with Sharon? Messing with the people around her? It doesn't matter. Either way, she's tired of sitting around and trying to learn information about them. They may know now as much as they ever will. And that means that they have to fight. As much as Sharon doubts they'll succeed, she also knows that they have to try. They can't just sit around like lemmings waiting for the food to run out.
She studies the gaps between the trees, then the trees themselves. The captives don't control the environment here. Dangers could be hidden anywhere here.
She may have waited too long to try this. People might be too weak from hunger, not at their best.
But they have to try.
No matter what happens, that's what it boils down to. They have to try.

She walks out from behind a building, just as serious and emotionless as she had been in her last transmission over the network, and when she approaches Sharon her voice is set, calm and fiercely determined. "How are we doing this, then."

Re: Meeting Up
So why was he making his way out into the woods? He knew he could help keep Sharon and the others from getting dead, that's why.
He scanned the edge of the woods, tilting his head to catch Sharon's scent and followed it easily, claws out and ready for trouble.

When he reaches the forest, he keeps to the outskirts of the group. This is Sharon's show. He's only there to help ensure that if the plan can succeed, it will. The rest is unimportant.

His head's held high but he'd be hard-pressed to find a time he felt lower heading out to war. He let them take her, probably to wherever they took Dr. Banner, probably to be experimented on. He wants answers.

Jesse just wants to help - if they can get out of here and he didn't at least try, he'd feel like a loser.

And he misses Jja so much it's painful. If there's a possibility of getting back to her, then he has to try.
He has his sword across his back, and the knife in his boot, and for the occassion he's pulled out the blue kilt he showed up in: easy to move in, unrestricting. He's... well, not exactly ready, but as ready as he will be.
no subject
At least it looks like he can use that sword.
She nods at him as he walks over and holds out a hand. "Sharon Carter. Plan is to go straight through. We get separated, I want you to try and stick with Coulson and his team if at all possible. That good with you?"
She looks over his shoulder back toward the town. Come on, Hulk. Where are you?

Ambushed by everything
You've got giant mechanical bears, machine gun fire from all possible directions that no one can see the source of, land mines and possibly a few leftover dire wolves and saber-toothed cats. Have at it.
If you are in this thread, ftlog track it, because there's no guarantee anyone will reply to each tag, but that doesn't mean things aren't moving forward.))
It wasn't long into the woods before they started to hear strange noises. Phil raised his rifle just in time for a giant mechanical bear to charge at the group.
He dove behind a tree, not bothering to wast a shot on the hulking metal thing. "Take cover!"
Re: Ambushed by everything
Steve throws the shield and aims it at the bear's head, and if it's not enough to slow it down, then maybe it can at least distract it long enough to get people ready. He catches the disc, readying for another shot when he hears more noises coming from elsewhere.

team squish or be squished (anna, kenzi, galen, sherlock?? i am probably forgetting people)
Of course, things go badly, as they always do.
Jesse reaches and grabs for Galen and Kenzi to jerk them back as a land mine explodes in front of them, set off by a dire wolf that didn't see it; it's far away that they're not hurt but still, it's close, and Jesse's left cursing up a storm.

Galen crouches immediately, reaching across Jesse and Kenzi and trying to keep his eyes on the explosion and his companions at the same time. Shit, he knew this wouldn't go well.
"We should back up -- watch out. Maybe they'll set them all off themselves!"

hulk smashing
Oh, he hates the metal ones that look like him. They only look like him, though; they sure aren't as strong as him, and the Hulk thinks his favorite thing to do is punch their heads off. It's like a game -- not a game he's ever played, because he hasn't played any games, but it's something half-remembered and poorly-formed, something about robots and rockin' 'em and sockin' 'em.
The little wolves are stupid. Their teeth are sharp and they jump high but they go even farther when he throws them. This is fun in the sense that there's plenty for him to do, and he does so little, but he doesn't feel like he's getting anywhere. Everything just keeps coming.
And there are all these humans fighting... with him, which means he has to keep an eye on them.
if jesse doesn't get to ride on the hulk's back at some point i'm gonna be sorely disappointed
Not that it matters so much in the next instant, considering one of the mechanical bears launches itself at him. Jesse doesn't get pinned, thankfully, but there's only so much he can do with the metal pipe, which is why he's been avoiding the non-living attackers as much as possible.
Jesse manages to hold his own decently, but the thing is backing him up against a tree. Maybe he can... ride the bear, Jesse thinks idly as he clangs at the stupid bear's mouth.

It surprises him, catches him away from the body of the group, and after a scuffle that seems to last forever and in reality is only about three minutes, he manages to lose the thing. Not kill it. Tony’s monumentally bad at killing things. But he does drive it off, and he heads back to the group, hoping no one died while he was distracted.
Moving through the trees, wiping at a cut over his eyebrow, Tony finds himself in front of the Hulk. Once, he would have jumped at the chance to talk to the guy. Now, he just gives him a wan smile.
“You doing okay, Hulk?”

HOPE THIS IS OKAY
Staying a little ways back from the battle heat with Anna doesn't mean missing any of the action, though, it seems; Bruce's big green, uh, problem is coming his way, and Galen isn't quite sure how to react!
"Uh, hey... Bruce?" He calls up. Fuck, what did he call the green guy? "Shit. Uh. Hulk? You need anything?" Wow, hi, this guy is huge and terrifying.
OF COURSE YES ALWAYS OMG

Re: hulk smashing
And there's Bruce. No, not Bruce, the Hulk. The divide there is a lot cleaner than the one between Wallie and Shonsu, and Wallie has enough issues dealing with Shonsu's subconscious. He can understand why that distinction is important.
"Hey!" In a brief moment of calm between assaults, Wallie can't quite resist calling. "Glad we're on the same side this time around, buddy."

Medic/Evac deus ex machina option: activate!
But then again, this isn't the first time this has happened to Anna. She's fought in wars since before most of these people's ancestors even existed, and the difference here is nothing is equipped to take on angels, the opposition isn't prepared for that and that at least is an advantage. It seems to be the only one they have, really.
She has her blade out - though no one would have seen her arrive with one - and she's right in the thick of things. Anna might be fallen, but she's spent a far greater deal of her lifetime playing the soldier than rebelling. This comes naturally, and as she drags a direwolf away from someone and kills it with ease, she's watching everyone rather frantically. It's no good trying to keep a secret if there's no one here to keep it a secret from, and she actually cares about the fate of a lot of the people stuck here with her.
She'll just have to worry about an explanation later. For now, she just needs to make sure no one dies on her watch.
Re: Medic/Evac deus ex machina option: activate!
She falls to the ground and forces herself back to her feet. The suit Tony had made her could only absorb so much of the hit, and she knows, knows, her shoulder is going to be sore tomorrow. She rolls her arm in a slow circle as she checks out the situation and spots Anna.
She doesn't waste time asking how Anna is holding up. They're both soldiers.
"Keep an eye on those kids. I shouldn't have let them come. If we pull through this..." She gives Anna's sword an appreciative look. "Can that thing cut through metal?"
