That is mahogany!
Who: OPEN
What: Some crates fell from the sky
Where: The Park, near the gazebo
When: Evening, day 42
Warnings: Injury, snakes, spiders, gore, violence, strong language, will update as needed
Other: Please feel free to have characters jump around. If your character moves threads and it's relatively continuous, please link the earlier thread to the later one and try to follow a tag order/try not to cram too many people into one thread. Prose or action spam is fine. Ping a mod if you need anything!
The ropes tightly binding the metal crates together managed to keep the pyramid formation intact even as it impacted the ground. Each crate was about five feet by five feet and the entire pyramid stood at least two stories high. Some of them are empty, some aren't meant to be opened, but there are a few that contain something special.
If you can cut away the ropes and pry open the lids, you might find a real treasure! Or you might regret giving in to your curiosity.
Don't forget to share, boys and girls.

"I thought Jesse was the pretty one." She gives him a warm smile. "My name's Ruby. Do you really want me to call you Ghoul?"

"You can call me whatever you want, long as you call me." The pickup lines are just a reflexive thing when meeting new people these days. Tests a sense of humour. Easily separates the ones who can take a joke from the ones that want to bite off your face. Eventually he settles. "Ghoul's fine."

"So you want to open my box?" It takes her about ten seconds to realize how that sounds and she laughs. "I mean the crate, not... oh, I'm getting rusty already."
thought* fucking typos.
He wiggles his glove-covered fingers to show he's slightly more prepared for this than she is. Only slightly. "Might be safer if you stand back. Maybe set it down nice and slow, back it up a bit, and I'll take care of the rest?" The rest being getting a better look at the contents before she has time to come close.

"Now, I'm trusting you here, Ghoul. Don't disappoint me." And if her tenuous trust fails, she's got her strength and her speed and he won't see her coming. "And stay safe."

Here's hoping it's a good one...

"Get back!" She grabs him around the middle in an instant, hauling him back with surprising strength as the lid falls open and the cobra rears its head, quick and angry and looking for something to attack.

Ghoul stares at the snake that probably would have killed him if this little lady hadn't acted faster than the lid coming off and pulled him away. He keeps an arm in front of her protectively, not that he really needs to after what just happened, and tries to figure out the best way to go about this.
Not taking his eyes off the cobra in the crate, he manages a reluctant, "Thanks."

He eyes dart around, but she's careful not to lose sight of the snake as it slithers out of the box. Maybe she can use her speed to catch it if she has to, but it's risky and then Ghoul will know what she can do.
