That is mahogany!
Who: OPEN
What: Some crates fell from the sky
Where: The Park, near the gazebo
When: Evening, day 42
Warnings: Injury, snakes, spiders, gore, violence, strong language, will update as needed
Other: Please feel free to have characters jump around. If your character moves threads and it's relatively continuous, please link the earlier thread to the later one and try to follow a tag order/try not to cram too many people into one thread. Prose or action spam is fine. Ping a mod if you need anything!
The ropes tightly binding the metal crates together managed to keep the pyramid formation intact even as it impacted the ground. Each crate was about five feet by five feet and the entire pyramid stood at least two stories high. Some of them are empty, some aren't meant to be opened, but there are a few that contain something special.
If you can cut away the ropes and pry open the lids, you might find a real treasure! Or you might regret giving in to your curiosity.
Don't forget to share, boys and girls.

finch ♦ finding cigarettes/art supplies/spiders/etc
Once he's gotten into the boxes that he's opened with his teeny army knife that he found in the house, he'll find some wonderful surprises.
Are these surprises A) cigarettes, B) art supplies, C) huge venomous soul eating spiders or D) something else? Because really, depending on what it is that's in this crate, he's going to have a different reaction. ]
u no wat
[ If his hand slaps down on the crate before Finch can get it open, it's a little out of paranoia, a little out of too many flashes of bad things and boxcutters and lessons gone terribly fucking wrong. ] Hang on- man. Shit just fell outta the fuckin' blue and we're gonna dive on in like it's Christmas.
hhehehehhehe
You wanna leave it and take the chance that it's food or cigarettes something? 'Cause I can sure as hell guarantee that if we don't get it first, someone else is gonna. [ And he really wants cigarettes. Like, more than food, it's kind of concerning. ] If it blows up, s'gonna blow up, man.

There are other things in the box but uh, Jesse is not paying attention, and he snatches the box the second he sees it. There are more, but! Those other things? Yeah, maybe he shrieks a little bit and falls back. Is this the best chance to jump him for his cigarettes? Probably! ]

Charlie: Finding food/a new journal and pens/ aaaand something that will go boom.
She will find, in order;
1: Food. All non-perishable but still. It's food. She doesn't care.
2: A new journal and pen. These are important for her so she'll be keeping those.
3: Something that will blow her off the pyramid from about 10 feet up, knock her out and burn her just a bit.
What a lovely day to be stuck inside Kore.]
[ooc: Reactions will vary due to whatever she finds at the time. If your character wants to play hero, let me know!]

HI! Let's find things that go boom?
She digs through a box, frowning and puts it to the side. Nothing in there at all. She finds a couple cans of beans, and tucks them into the big bag she's hauling around. Alright dragging. It's heavy, okay?
Grumbling, she drags another box out and bumps into someone.]
Logan? Oh. Uh, hi. You're not Logan.

Laura; finding absolutely nothing of value whatsoever
Not much attention is paid to anyone around her as she starts trying to get into the first box, and honestly Laura doesn't even know what she's looking for. Some food maybe, or a few more than the one singular round in the rifle that she still refuses to use. Finally it's hit her how dangerous this place is, and she might not necessarily be in a rush to go home but she sure as hell isn't going to wait to starve to death or get picked off by unseen forces. So instead, she starts tearing at ropes. ]
[[ooc: so Laura's totally not going to find anything of value save a few cans of food
the gross stuff too, corn no spaghetti hoops here buddy, but since I am cruel like that there's going to be nasties involved. Eventually she's gonna stumble across that sweet sweet KO gas so if anyone wants to like. Sop her from falling midway up the pyramid? That'd be cool.]]no subject
[ It seems all that Jesse's doing is crowd control here. There's not really so much of that to do when he can count the number of people he gives a half a shit about here on, well, one hand so far. Laura's begrudgingly entered that list already, not that it was really a leap for her to have done so, and it's killin' Jesse how quickly everyone's digging into this pile of crap. ]
[ Not that THAT'S much of a leap either. They're desperate, and starving. Jesse's half about to start prying these crates open himself. As it is he's clapping Laura on the shoulder and giving her a bit of a yank back, trying to pause her from what she's doing. ] Calm yourself, Miss Kamikaze, slow the hell down. Ya wanna get blown up?

Of course, it looks like some of the boxes contain food. These people need food. And they need it before they can risk Stane taking it away.
She raises her voice loudly enough that it can be heard throughout the square. She's had plenty of practice, both as Director and as a field agent trying to be heard over enemy agents. "Anybody need help opening boxes?" She holds up her knife. "I've got a knife."
Stating the obvious, perhaps, but they certainly know she has it now.
"I'd appreciate it if no one took more food than they need. We have to make sure we've got enough for everyone."

"You can't control the hungry and angry." Truth be told, he was a bit hungry himself, but he could adjust his metabolism and last longer than humans. However, even he didn't know how long he could last without something substantial eventually.
He looks at a nearby crate. "Want to crack it open?"

But hey, you only live once, right? Might as well make the most of it. And who knows? Maybe she'll find some tins of peas or soup or something. You can never have enough cans of junk, right?
She manages to get one of the boxes open and is relieved to find that it doesn't explode and that nothing evil seems to crawl out of it.
What she does find is a bit surprising though - a Polaroid One Step 600 "Rainbow Stripe" instant camera and some boxes of film. Jackpot!
That's assuming the camera doesn't go kablooey if she tries to use it. ]

Still, she idly ponders swiping a box for herself. It's not as though she needs anything. But hey, demon, sharing isn't exactly in her nature. And awesome stuff means she has stuff to bribe people with later to do things for her.
But for now, she's just watching. ]

All you gotta do is casually stroll around the base of the pyramid, watching the action. Soon as someone opens a crate and finds a nasty surprise, they usually bolt. That's the perfect, most definite, opportune moment to swoop in nice and quick and quietly make off with the goods under the bad. If you're lucky, the crate-opener comes back and sees the empty insides of the box and makes a hilariously pained/frustrated expression.
It's a good system. No confrontation necessary. Let him demonstrate...]

[ You know what sucks even more? Opening a crate and finding an entire swarm of bees inside. ]
[ So, yeah! Okay! Stiles admits it! He ran! Fast and flailing and away from the box in question for a good long time until they dispersed, because he was really, really intent on finding the good stuff in these crates, but he was also really, really a fan of not being killed by bees. That was at the bottom of his to-do list. ]
[ You know what else sucked? Returning to your stash and catching some sleazy tattooed dude in the process of pilfering your hard-earned goods. ] Bro.
