servingmichael: (Watching you Fall)

I had a dream but I called it a plan

Who: Raphael and ANY ONE.
What: Raphael just arrived, he's kicking the cage looking around.
When: Day 46, all day
Where: Anywhere!
Warnings: Will be updated as needed!

Raphael had toyed with the thing on his wrist for a bit before going outside. Once or twice he attempted to fly passed the edge and ended up stuck there and having to walk back until he could fly again - but he made a map of those areas, and after a few attempts avoided them in favor of the woods, park, and buildings. As he pops in and out, there's a faint sound of thunderclaps and wings beating, but otherwise, nothing to announce him

Hence the 'or something'. She wasn't sure what to make of any of this. Charlie wasn't big on uncertainty so she tilts her head slightly.

"Good to hear, I think." She didn't want to start shit where there shouldn't be any and setting someone ablaze, harmless as it seems to have been, is a sure fire way to get herself in a bad fix.

She likes avoiding those. "So, how'd you survive it?" And, also. "Sorry about that, even if..." Well. Even if he was unharmed.

"I would like that. I never learned the art of making them. My mother made a few for friends." But Brigid had been too young to learn, when her mother had died. She still missed the one her father gave her, but she wouldn't worry about it. It was safe in her jewelry box at home.

She cocked her head to the side. The smell of Not Human, covered in human was strong. Her fingers ran along the edge of the pew in front of her.

"Not that many, surely." She whispered. "You barely look old enough to be a deacon."

His calm demeanor is both relaxing and unsettling. She can't figure out which one to go with, honestly.

"I usually try to avoid greetings, anyway." And Charlie tries to pass that off as a joke, a half-smirk and a one shouldered shrug. Sadly, though, it's true. She avoids people like most cats avoid water. Any surprise contact and she tries to scramble away.

"You're new. When did you arrive in Kore?"

"I can be -"

She stopped, staring at him. Things suddenly clicked into place. Brigid wasn't an idiot and she was a good Catholic girl. Her eyes widened and she immediately dropped to her knees, crossing herself.

Her eyes dropped to the floor and her breath came fast. The smell of otherness swirled around her.

"I beg pardon, St. Raphael, I meant no offense and wished only the peace of the sanctuary." She whispered the words, folding her hands together in prayer. He would be able to hear her. "Please forgive me."

Her voice shook on the last. God hadn't created angels to be caring or gentle. He'd created them to be avengers, to be soldiers, to be the dealers of death at His command.

Pissing one off was a death sentence. She knew it and prepared herself to be struck down for the blasphemy of familiarity.

She took his gaze as something of a challenge. Like a dog trying to assert dominance. And Mina certainly wasn't going to blink. Technically, she didn't even need to, although she'd gotten into the habit after some time.

"Well, perhaps we'll just stick with 'hello,'" she said, raising her chin slightly.

A pause.

"Hello."

"Gatecrashing, huh? You rebel, you."

If his hands weren't stuck in his pockets, he'd be fidgeting. What can you even say after so long a time? Well, probably most people would be able to think of something appropriate, but this is Gabriel: appropriate's not his area of expertise.

"You been filled in on the deets of our little field trip?"

She had always turned to her faith when things were bad. Her mother had died and she'd stayed with her Alpha. The Church had been there to offer comfort. When her father had died, it'd been there too.

The warm comfort of his hand drained tension out of her shoulders. They weren't meant to be gentle, but just as a soldier in a war zone could offer solace, so could an angel.

Brigid closed her eyes, not moving from where she was. "Thank you, St. Raphael." The archangel of animals and children, a favorite of the pack.

"You didn't ask for it," she countered, smiling lazily. Oh, he seemed so very male. Both irritating and amusing at the same time. Mina was getting used to not being the only woman in trousers in a room. She'd accepted, gladly, that her sex had evolved. But she had yet to believe the same could be said for the other.

Well, no matter.

"Typically," she said, "the way these sort of things go is that one introduces oneself. Of course, I don't know what world you come from. So if I've just said something entirely offensive, I do apologize. I'm still in the process of adjusting to the whole notion of different worlds, you know. Quite confusing."

“Well, the world’s a little smaller here. They might notice this time.”

Not that Lucifer cares one way or another. He’d be happy to exterminate the lot of the pests right now, and likely would, were it not for his truce with Gabriel. Happily, though, he knows that humans are a foolish, excitable bunch, and eventually one of them is going to do something woefully stupid and give him the excuse he needs.

And he won’t hesitate to take it.

Shrugging, he straightens up and makes a show of dusting off immaculate hands. “Either way, not my problem. Just wanted to drop in and say hi. The others will probably be along soon enough. I’m sure Anna and Castiel are eager to have you over for their weekly Save the Humans campaign.”

Waggling his fingers in a jaunty wave, Lucifer disappears with a rustle of feathers.

"I did that my first day here, too." And she still does it every day. She can't help it. She hates it here. It's another cage with more scientists and she just wants to burn it all. But there are people she likes. Sort of. She cares to a point where she won't admit it but will react if someone she likes is harmed. It's a confusing place to be for her.

"You're pretty chill about being here." Lucky.

"Should I have?" Anna eyes the archangel warily. There's few family members she wants to see less than the one who's just appeared, but what's done is done. She can't exactly hide from him. The only option she really has left here is to face up, hope to hell she's not going to be struck down, and if she gets through all of that, maybe assess how much of a threat he may or may not be to the people here.

It's not like she would put it past him to hold onto old grudges, after all, and above all else her priorities these days are to keep the people she's grown close to safe. She wouldn't put it past any of her more estranged family members to use that connection to get to her, either. All she can hope is that here, in this town, they might rethink their priorities.

"I don't really want to drag a family feud into this town, Raphael."

Male.

"Well, I'm afraid many of the rest of us are still trying to play catch up," she said, careful to keep her tone even, despite the hotness she could feel rising. She suddenly felt as though she were comparing titles with an Invictus Prince. An effort that was always futile, frustrating, and, at the end of the night, utterly pointless.

And that reminder helped her to release some of the tension in her jaw.

She smiled easily. "Are you going to tell me your name or not? I can always make one up for you."

"O-of course." Brigid pushed herself up and slid back onto the pew where she'd been sitting. Her fingers fidgeted with the frayed edges of her sweatshirt. The air in the church wasn't cold - especially to a werewolf - but there was a slight bit of damp to it.

"Are you - I don't wish to offend, but are you trapped as well?" She had to ask. There were ways to trap an angel - even the bible stated that. There were ways to repel them - lamb's blood over the doorway. For these people, whoever they were, to have trapped an archangel sent a chill down her spine and made her want to curl into a ball and whimper.
