Who: Lucifer and OPEN
What: Exploring the town
When: Day 48, all day
Where: Anywhere

If he ever intends to find the source of his vessel’s stability, Lucifer knows that he must thoroughly search the town and its surrounding environs. Not so long ago, he had demons to handle the tedious tasks with which he had neither the time nor the inclination to occupy himself. But the few that are here are unreliable, uppity, and he hasn’t the patience to deal with them. Now, like ever, he has only himself upon whom to rely, and so it is he who searches through the abandoned buildings for signs that might lead him to the answers he seeks.

The town proper. The beach beyond it. The lighthouse. The forest. This world is open to him, and he goes where he wills.

There are, of course, a few points of special interest, and before the day is done, he will have sought them out. But he has time to spare, and fully intends to go wherever whim and curiosity take him.

[ OOC: So Lucifer’s exploring. He’s not going to be walking into anyone’s house uninvited, but he will be going into all of the other buildings and snooping around at various locations throughout the town. Feel free to run into him somewhere! ]

He could tell him, of course. He could give him a list of options, each more inventive than the next. Or he could simply show him. And with humans, he’s noticed, show is infinitely more effective than tell.

Holding out his hand to Kobra, he kindles a ball of fire in his palm. “You could set the world on fire.” A moment's pause to let it sink in, and then he adds, just in case Kobra doesn't understand the offer, "If you've the courage enough to take it."

"But I've already got her back. What does that get me?" Everyone told him not to, even if he really does want to control-burn Sharon's life out of her. Would people really be angry if Sharon was gone? She's such a terrible person and probably a mole. Even when she's nice, she'e condescending as fuck.

"Peace of mind. The knowledge that you've protected your own. Revenge on those who took her and did who knows what unspeakable things to her." Unless they abducted her to play games and treat her well. It's a possibility. Slight, nearly impossible, but Lucifer can't completely rule it out.

"But hey." Half-frowning a twisty little frown, Lucifer shrugs and closes his fingers on the fire, extinguishing it. "If you don't want it, don't take it. Some people aren't cut out for that kind of thing."

His free hand clenches into a fist. "There's nothing I'm not cut out for. I can take this place. I can take their shit." His voice raises in volume as he speaks.

He's clearly getting agitated at the implication that he can't handle anything that life throws at him and more. He's a fucking survivor.

“Well, and don’t take this the wrong way because I’m sure you did your best, but they still took her, right? They’re still taking people away from town. But it’s not your girl, so you know, maybe they’re done with her. Whatever they wanted her for, now they can just move right along to someone else.”

He gives him a smile that’s half sympathy and half reassurance. “Hope for the best, right? It’s a good thing you don’t have anyone else important to you here. Who knows if they’d be the next to go?”

"So what're you saying? Send them a message? 'Cause I don't give two shits about most of the people here. You've gotta know that." He'd kill most of the people here himself to keep the important people safe. Fuck everyone else.

"What I'm saying is that if you want the power to protect the people you care for, I'll give it to you." Much like the cigarette, in fact. And contrary to popular belief, it won't cost him his soul. Lucifer isn't a crossroads demon, after all.

"Yeah? What do I gotta give you for it?" It catches him off guard. You don't get something for nothing. He knows that much.

He shakes his head. "You didn't give me anything for the cigarette, did you? I'm not asking for anything now, either."

"So... you're just... invested in my happiness? What's your angle? 'Cause I gotta tell you, I already pledged my loyalty to Loki and I'm still pretty much an atheist." He can't help the wariness. A cigarette is one thing, but this?

"I don't have an angle. Nor do I want your loyalty or your worship." Lucifer's eyes narrow, though, and he lowers his hand. "But I am running out of patience and I don't make offers twice."

With a tiny shrug, little more than a roll of one shoulder, he turns away. "Good luck, Kobra Kid. I suspect you're going to need it."

"Hey! Hey, wait!" He moves quickly after Lucifer. "Yeah. Yes. I want your help."

He stops, waits for him to catch up, and when he does, holds out his hand. In his palm, one tiny flame flickers to life. "Then take it. It won't burn you. The other angels called me Lightbringer once, long before humans existed, for mine was the light that drove back the darkness and kindled life in the stars. A bit of that power I give to you now, to start fire and command it, as you once seemed to claim that you could."

Kobra hesitates and then he reaches out for the flame. He's not afraid of getting burned at all.

"Thanks."

The fire goes out after he takes it, the power his now to do with as he wills. Lucifer simply smiles at him and dips his head in a slight nod. "You're welcome. Use it well."

Of course, he doesn't actually care how Kobra uses it, and after that well-wishing, he disappears.
