And you don't seem the lying kind. A shame that I can read your mind.
Who: Castiel and OPEN
Where: In his head
When: Days 83-88
What: Several dream options, including action, horror, comedy and exploring the city.
Warnings: One of these has a body horror element. It's the last one and I've labeled it as such.
Notes: Most of these will be recurring dreams for Cas and multiple replies to any of them are welcome. After the first two nights (83 and 84), Castiel will be aware that dreams are being shared, but he may still forget it while he's dreaming due to wonky dream-logic.
Memory-based dreams are open for characters to remember seeing during the event, even if they don't tag here to interact with Cas and if you want to play your character remembering themselves in Castiel's place, that's fine, too.
Give me a dream and a day in the subject and if there's anything specific you want to do, just let me know!
1. Purgatory Fight Dream
Castiel is running. He can't remember why, but the gray forest stretches on forever and all he knows is that if he stops, he'll die. Looking back isn't an option, so he has to have faith that his companion is keeping up.
That's when a figure slams down in front of him and he skids to a stop. And now they fight.
2. The Laugh Track Family Dream
Castiel walks into the oversized, over-stylized kitchen to mild applause and pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "I got a C on my science fair project. My life is over." He flops dramatically into a wooden chair.
Uncle Phil from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air looks up from the table where he's shuffling around empty envelopes. "I told you that Gabriel wasn't a science experiment." A laugh track sounds.
"You obviously haven't been in his room." This time, the laugh track is a roar and they pause to allow for it before continuing on.
Lois from Malcolm in the Middle walks in just as the stovetop timer starts to sound. "Dinner will be ready soon. Can you get your brothers and sisters down here, Cas?"
Castiel gives the 'camera' a flat look. "I don't even know all of my brothers and sisters." The laugh track explodes.
3. The Crystal City (Days 85-88 only)
Now that Castiel knows that they're sharing dreams, he's got a bit more footing here. He can do this without whatever is forcing it on the others. He should have no problem with this and yet, he's not sure whose dream this is and the more time he spends here, the less it makes sense.
He walks briskly through the endless streets, slipping through faceless crowds with purpose until he finds himself on a now-empty pedestrian overpass, his coat billowing in the wind as he takes in the view of the shining city. It's almost blinding and he's never seen anything like it, but whether it's the future, another world entirely or simply someone's television-fueled dream, he still can't tell.
After a moment, he turns to the companion who hadn't been there a moment ago as if they'd been there all along, the logic of the dream clouding his ability to think about it clearly.
"I don't know what to make of it."
4. Body Horror Dream
Castiel feels sick and he wobbles forward, leaning heavily on the bathroom sink. He looks in the mirror and he can tell that his vessel looks terrible. His eyes are bloodshot and his skin is discolored.
Let us out.
Suddenly, he feels like he's going to throw up. The closest he'd ever felt to this was the morning after he'd been binge drinking. He presses his hand to his stomach and it... kicks? It's almost akin to pregnancy.
Let us out, Castiel.
Shaking, he lifts his shirt and there's a hand stretching through the skin of his abdomen.

"I don't think I'm going to go to the dance." He looks off to the side. What are his options here? Either go and watch Dean dance with someone else or don't go. He prefers not having to watch it, even if he knows its happening.
"Though I'm not entirely sure why you think I can do better. What's wrong with Meg? It's not like anyone else is showing interest." He sighs.
no subject
"Maybe you're just not looking in the right places." He grins wide and throws his hand out. "You're lucky to have me as your best friend. Cas, this week is the week you'll find the love of your life. And I'll help."
A beat.
"We'll find the right girl for you, Cas."
no subject
After that, time speeds up and slows down. Castiel looses track of things. Before he can question it, he's sticky an it's dark.
Oh, get your head out of the gutter!
He's in a movie theater, on a date that Dean set up and he's managed to piss the poor unsuspecting date off enough that she's just dumped her soda on him and stormed out. Now Castiel is sticky and alone and he's just gotten angrily shushed by several people.
Biting his lip, his back slumps and he starts to curl up in his seat. He's still not sure what he even said that was so caustic to begin with.
no subject
No, okay, Dean feels super jealous. And he's glad she dumped her soda on him and stormed out because Cas doesn't need a girlfriend. The whole idea was stupid. Dean can't share Cas. He'll figure out how to explain it to him later, but right now he wants to get out of here. He isn't even supposed to be here after the last time.
Casually, he gets up and makes his way down the aisle, which unfortunately brings him right by Cas. This is going to be the trickiest part, but he's seen Dean the Heckler back there and hasn't recognized him yet.
And then Dean slips on soda and nearly falls, saving himself by holding onto the railing. The scrambling draws a long string of laughter, and then his hat falls off in the process, and he finds himself staring at Cas with wide eyes. More laughter, of course.
no subject
Castiel looks down at him with a confused frown. "Dean?"
Then it all comes crashing together. Oh. Of course.
His face twists, showing all of the anger and hurt he's feeling plainly. Standing in the sticky puddle, he grabs Dean's jacket tightly and pulls him up and towards the door with no room for compromise.
"Let's go." His voice is livid.
no subject
"Cas, I can explain." Can he? No, no he can't. Quick, think of something else. "I -- that was you?" He exhales slowly, puffing his cheeks out as his eyes go wide. "Coulda fooled me. You did fool me! Cas, buddy."
He claps a hand on his shoulder.
no subject
"Don't play dumb. You followed me again." He steps into Dean's space. "Is this funny to you? Is it a joke? Show Castiel just how undesirable he is? How he's going to be alone forever and you--"
He makes an exasperated sound and then turns again, storming out of the lobby and into the parking lot.
no subject
"Cas, stop. Come on. I'm -- I'm trying to help! She -- She wasn't -- "
This excuse is getting weak. He loses steam and stops, clenching his hands into fists and releasing them.
"I didn't mean for you to get hurt. That's the last thing I wanted. Want, the last thing I want."
no subject
"Then why are you doing this to me? I didn't even want to go on any of these stupid dates, Dean. I just did it to make you happy!"
He's not sure what else he can do. He'll probably keep doing whatever Dean wants him to do and that's fine. It's fine because he's Dean, but he can't take any more of these dates and girls telling him he's weird. At least Meg likes him, unlike these other girls who Dean thinks are so much better.
no subject
Cas is mad, like straight up, angry, hurt, mad, and Dean needs to figure out how to make it better. The only thing he can think of though are more ridiculous lies, or the truth.
"I thought if I was the one who fixed you up with a girl, I wouldn't be so..."
The pause is long enough that Cas could get tempted to ask him to get on with it. Dean finally does, his shoulders slumping.
"So jealous." He could totally recover that in a friend-jealous way, depending on how Cas takes it.
no subject
"Why would you be jealous, Dean? They're not going to replace you. You're my best friend." Still. Even after this whole thing.
Dean is Castiel's best friend and he always has been and he always will be. He's a constant.
no subject
"No. Because you'd do things with them that you wouldn't do with me, and I -- I want you all for myself, Cas." He meets his eyes then, trying to see how Cas is taking this.
"You said you were only doing this for me? Good. Let's -- Let's forget it. I'd rather it be you and me. Just us."
no subject
Looking back at Dean, he goes on. "There's nothing I wouldn't do with you."
He purses his lips. "Does this mean you won't date girls, either?"
no subject
He'll leave untouched the question of things they can do together; he can't really approach this headon, so he shrugs and tries to shift around, but then looks Cas right in the eye.
"If you're asking me not to, then... I won't." It's a scary admission, but the adrenaline rush is bolstering, too.
"I like us. I like... you." That could be neutral, right? Or not. It could definitely not be neutral, and now Dean's watching Cas's every move to see how he reacts.
no subject
"Don't." Apparently he can. "Don't date girls."
His hands are clenched at his sides and he's nearly shaking with nerves and the ebbing anger from earlier. He spends so much time not asking for what he wants, afraid that it will push Dean away and this seems like too much. It's something he shouldn't be allowed to ask for.
"I don't like watching you with them."
no subject
He smiles, half an act because he feels like he ought to infuse some lightness into this, to break up some of Cas's tension, but he also needs to break up some of his own, too.
"Something else you and I have in common, then. I don't like watching you with them either."
He lets the smile fade then, admission passed, and he nods, serious now.
"Okay. I won't."
no subject
"Then why did you keep making me go on those awful dates, Dean?"
His hands relax as he moves closer. He wants to go somewhere else--somewhere quiet and private like Dean's car so they can sit down and just be alone. Together. That's what he wants more than anything right now, even more than not being sticky.
no subject
"How'd you think I figured that out?"
He lets him stand up again and takes his arm away, but not before sliding his hand along his back. It's more than a little difficult letting him go, and it'd felt good to have him in his arms, even like that. Dean's always known that, but this is different. He unlocks the passenger door and moves around to the driver's side and slides in.
no subject
Once he sees what Dean is doing, he scrambles over to the passenger seat and climbs in.
"You could have just told me instead of making them worse."
He settled in the passenger seat, hands resting on his thighs and head turned so he can watch Dean.
no subject
He doesn't know how to say that it was because he was nervous, but the pause is awkward enough and his cover is flimsy enough to start with that it might come through anyway.
"It was pretty funny to watch." He grins, though it's quieter, not the grin he usually throws out. Reaching out, he swipes his thumb against a part of Cas's neck that's sticky from soda.
no subject
He swallows under Dean's touch, eyes going straight to Dean's. They touch, but not like this. This is... the sort of thing he's wanted, though.
"Dean..." His hands clench in his lap for an entirely different reason now.
no subject
"You deserve a good date. One that doesn't suck." And since they both just agreed not to see any girls... Dean's eyes aren't on Cas's though, too shy, too nervous.
"What would you want on a date like that, Cas? You could have anything you wanted."
no subject
"No, I just want to go somewhere with you."
His hand twitches in his lap and then he reaches up to grab Dean's wrist gently. "That's all I want, Dean."
no subject
"Doesn't give me a lot to go on, Cas. How'm I supposed to take you on your dream date if you don't tell me what that is?"
That's him asking Cas on a date in a roundabout way, and his heart's in his throat for it, too. He squeezes Cas's hand, swallows hard again.
no subject
"It doesn't matter what we do, Dean. You're what matters. As long as it's with you."
He squeezes Dean's hand. This is more than he could have hoped for. It's perfect and he leans towards Dean with a smile playing on his lips.
