Raphael had no desire to leave - he enjoyed this. The younger brother, if push cam to shove, reminded him of himself and he sorely missed his brother. But he did become aware of another in this space over time and finally turned to look at him.

"Hello there."

"Hi," Alec said stiffly. He presumes this the other man's dream since he is also an observer and doesn't appear surprised by what he sees.

"Is there any reason in particular, you are dreaming about those boys?"

"Hello." Raphael was fairly calm, which translated in his tone.

"I've watched over them for several hundred years." But it's too flat to be a joke, as if he simply expects his word to be accepted as truth.

"That is a long time to watch them." Alec pauses. "Are you a demon, an angel or warlock? I can't tell your true form which is frustrating." That put it mildly. The runes on his skin should allow him to see past disguises.

"My name is Raphael." There's a slight emphasis on the '-el', as if that alone is an answer. For him, it is. "You can perceive the true form of angels in your world? Not just one?" His head tilted, rather birdlike, as he asked.

It is more than enough for Alec. He's torn between star struck and awed that the angels here would deign to talk to him.

"Yes, Shadowhunters have always had the ability to recognise the true form on an angel or demon." He doesn't say sir but there is a clear tone of respect.

The tone is noted, and it softens Raphael when he might have been harsh otherwise. "Would that be a type of Nephilim?" That was the only part that made sense to him - Nephilim could see their halos, so to speak, and as fair as he cared to know, demons as well. He'd never bothered to ask before slaying the abominations.

Although he wasn't likely to attack Alec.

"Yes, we are one and the same. As far as I know, there is only one type." Alec has no clue as to the angel's true feelings. He trusts the work they do is at least looked on with approval by the angels.

"Have you met many of us?"

"Different worlds have different types of werewolves and other creatures, no reason to think we are exempt." It's an almost lecturing tone, but not one of a teacher - merely one of an older brother who has often taught the younger members of the family.

"A fair few. They are extremely rare in my world."
