The hand on his is a further comfort - often Michael or Lucifer will take him or one of the other young ones by the hand - but he stays huddled close regardless. "It shouldn't be. Father isn't." Little does this young archangel know.

"But why? It doesn't need to be that way. Other things make their own food, or eat plants. Why should it have to kill?"

"It's the circle of life," and the Doctor swore to himself he was done with the Lion King quotes, "In order for things to be born, grow stronger, sometimes, one must pay the cost or the end of a life."

The Doctor thought of himself good with children, but such complex topics... Well, he wondered. Although there was something very different about this child, he just couldn't put his finger on it yet.

"It doesn't have to be that way!" It's shouted, enough to make the water ring, both young and disbelieving and powerful and angelic.

"My Father wouldn't do that. He Creates good things!" Raphael, contrary to his older self, was less composed. Most of why he repressed his emotions so strongly was because of the depth he felt them. And the yelling only causes him to manifest his wings, all six pair, before the blink out of sight again.

The Doctor was just about to ask the little boy who his father was, as he kept bringing him up, but that question was answered with the flash of wings. He had caught it, they were there, which if he had even just blinked, would have missed it.

His eyebrows rose, in an expression of slight shock, but he quickly went back to neutral. "And that's good! Great, even! Your Father sounds lovely." He didn't want to upset the boy any longer and offers a smile.

...we're going to pretend I said three pair, not six pair, right?

At this point in his life, Father was the center of Raphael's world. Though had Raphael realized what his wings signified, he would have manifested them again. His wings were beautiful, second in his mind only to Lucifer's, and he was proud of them.

"He is! He keeps creating things, so He's busy." Which was how Raphael had gotten off alone as young as he was, not that he showed signs of letting go of The Doctor.

"Let's go somewhere else, yeah? Somewhere less scary? Somewhere where your father provided good memories for you?" The Doctor was curious where exactly that could be.

He estimated that this was near the beginning of the creation of the world - Earth? It was mostly unfamiliar to him.

No, this isn't Earth. Earth is still a long and short time away, the archangels need to grow still, to guide their siblings. But there are places already of memory and Raphael nods. He keeps a hold of The Doctor's arm and spreads his wings once more. They aren't seen this time, but there is movement in the water and he flies them away.

It's an even earlier time. The rock they are now perched on has an almost lacy crust, the dark, sooty color of volcanic rocks. He points over at the horizon, to the still forming galaxy. Soon, very soon, there is a burst of light, then another dimmer, then another brighter than the first - the galaxy being born. Eventually it will be the Milky Way.

His mouth is wide open and he looks around them in amazement, not minding that the boy's hand remains on his arm. "Blimey..." He mutters quietly, unsure where to look at first.

"This is... This is the beginning." Long, long ago he was told about this moment, perhaps when he was the same age as this boy. "But..." He didn't know what to say, exactly. Somehow he never made it this far back in time.

"Some of it." Raphael has seen other beginnings, this one was still new when he was this age. But Father promised wonderful things to come from this one, and watching stars be born always reminds him of the newest angels being born. He points to an area in the formation. It's where the Earth's sun will one day be. "That spot. He says it's going to be important."

The Doctor knew some of these stars, "They're so young!" He mused as his gaze roamed around. "Oh, it's beautiful!" He was absolutely delighted and hoped to remember this at some point later in time to bring up in conversation.

He starts naming off the stars with quick passion and excitement, which constellations they would make one day, perhaps a tidbit of their history of discovery. It really excited this remaining Time Lord. "Are these the stars Rassilon saw?" He wondered outloud.

"He's not finished either." There was excitement, enough to almost look like movement in his body, but it's not there - indeed, like wind, you can sense the movement but not see it. "It all is." It's full of wonder and joy, Raphael leaning against him, forgetting things as basic as "personal space" in his excitement.

Raphael names other that died young, even if they aren't there yet, he knows they will be, and gives other names to ones The Doctor names, as the angels named them too. "Rassilon?"
