WHO: Lydia Martin + Ned
WHERE: The beach
WHEN: Day 102, evening
WHAT: Finding Wallie
WHERE: The beach
WHEN: Day 102, evening
WHAT: Finding Wallie
- [ In the early hours of the morning at house 17 there had been a loud scream, one that was certain to wake the residents of said house. That had been it, for the moment at least. Lydia had gone about her day, had spent time with Allison.
That evening it had changed. Lydia couldn't remember stopping her reading, putting down her book or leaving the house but she had. She was out of it, awake but not in her own mind. It was a fugue state, one that she'd experienced before, but not something that she'd expected to happen here.
Lydia had left her house, crossed the cape and made her way down to the beach. It was only after she'd gotten halfway across the beach that Lydia stopped walking, and snapped out of it.
She was confused, as confused as she'd been when she'd somehow driven to the pool. When she'd found the dead body.
Looking around for a moment her brow wrinkled, and she took a tentative step forward ]
O-kay. This is great.
[ When it happened that other night, when she'd called Stiles, it had been scary enough. But she was sleepwalking again, and she hoped this time it would be different ]

[ They've gone far along the beach, away from where the main fray had been earlier. He's nearby when she finally snaps out of it, can see the change come over her as she becomes aware of her surroundings. ]
Lydia! [ There's an undisguised note of relief in his voice. ] Can you hear me, are you okay?
no subject
How long have you been there?
no subject
[ His own embarrassment for his actions takes the back burner compared to his concern for Lydia right now ] Were you in a trance?
no subject
[ Something that she doesn't quite know what it is, but it's definitely something, and a trance is definitely similar ]
Last time I drove. [ Which doesn't help the current worries ] I didn't crash.
[ But there's a small pause, and Lydia briefly looks around again ]
I don't know why I'm here.

Then it's happened before. [ That means it wasn't something caused by their captors, but rather, something about Lydia herself ] What's the last thing you remember doing? [ After he's asked it, he realizes that finding out answers is not quite at the top of his list of priorities. ] We should get away from the water. Did you not hear - the sea monster was grabbing people left and right.
[ He turns fretful eyes towards the water to look for danger and pauses, heart starting to beat faster as he spots a dark spot in the water, a little ways away. It looks... person-sized. Ned stares, eyes going wide ]

[ There's a slow nod to accompany that, a look of worry on her face. She didn't know how this had started, or why, but it wasn't a one of thing, or something saved just for home ]
That guy. He had the vision, he-
[ Lydia stops when she sees Ned's gaze turn to the water, his expression changing. She follows his line of sight down to the direction he's looking, finding it herself ]
Is that- [ Except Lydia isn't quite certain if it is what she's thinking, and she certainly doesn't want it to be. Her curiosity grabs her, though, and she starts walking towards the shape.
The closer Lydia gets the more that she can see, and realise that it is a person. She stops a couple of feet away, not wanting to be any closer to really see (though that doesn't stop her curiosity - or her need to know, to check) ]
Oh god, oh god. Is he-?
[ She shook her head as she said it. Hoping, wishing. If he wasn't they'd have to get to him quickly, and get both him and themselves away in case it came back. And if he was... it was happening all over again ]

[ He covers his mouth in horror as he approaches and recognizes who it is. There's no mistaking him; Wallie was always very distinctive, even from a distance. When he's around ten feet away, Ned stops in his tracks. His heart is beating too fast and he feels like he might be sick. ]
C-can you feel for a p-pulse? [ It's possible he's wrong, possible that with a bit of CPR... that's how it always went in the movies. Maybe it isn't too late. If Lydia weren't with him, he thinks he just might manage it on his own, but on the whole it seems safer to keep his distance and ask her to, appearances be damned. ]
no subject
What?
[ No. Oh god no. She couldn't do it, and yet apparently she has to, as she had ended up closer to the body than he had, and he looks just as disgusted ]
Who is it?
[ After a moment or two, another moment or two that she'd spent looking at Ned, Lydia steps forward, crouching close to the body. There's some hesitation before she actually reaches to check for the pulse, and silence from Lydia as she waits to find one (or not) ]

It's Wallie.
[ He can't fathom explaining more than that. Ned didn't know him all that well, but this isn't exactly a big place, and he isn't exactly an easy guy to miss. Just then Ned remembers how he'd been frightened of him at first, because Wallie was tall and had tattoos on his face. How as soon as they had spoken he had realized how narrow-minded and absurd that was of him, because Wallie was so kind, so mellow, so personable. Ned had always thought they would have more time to get to know one another. And now- ]
He's dead isn't he? [ Ned's voice is stiff, flat. It is more of a statement than a question ]
no subject
Yeah. He's dead.
no subject
[ His attention turns to Lydia, to the expression of horror fixed on her face. He doesn't know if this is the first time she's seen a dead body, much less touched one. Ned takes a few steps closer to her, looks concerned ]
You gonna be okay? [ Even if this is her first time seeing a body she seems - to Ned, anyway - unduly alarmed ]
