Who: Kobra and Daneel
Where: Their house and then the lighthouse
When: Backdated to Day 17
What: Adventuring!

Kobra was bored and when Kobra was bored, destructive things happened. Having already broken a few things in the kitchen, Kobra went searching for some new entertainment. Normally, he'd just jump all over Party or something, but the asshole was out somewhere having fun without him.

He wound up climbing up the ladder and knocking on Daneel's attic door. "Hey, man, you around?"

"Yes, of course."

Daneel came to open up the trap door, peering at Kobra with interested curiosity. He was doing nothing of any particular note besides sorting through boxes, but he always had time for Kobra.

"Is there something you needed, Kobra?"

"I'm bored." Kobra grinned up at him. "What are you up to?"

There was something about Daneel that was calming. He was fucking serene or whatever, but he wasn't all stuffy about it. He was just incredibly chilled out. It was great. Kobra had all this anxious energy and Daneel could maybe balance that out.

"I am investigating the contents of the boxes that are up here."

Which wasn't a particularly important task, but while Daneel wouldn't exactly have been bored by standing around and staring at the wall for hours on end, he did like to feel like he was accomplishing something.

"I certainly have time for you."

His grin got wider and goofier. He liked the way Daneel put that. It was like he didn't mind clearing other stuff out of the way for Kobra. It made him feel wanted. A lot of things here made him feel wanted. It was almost too easy to forget that he wasn't here voluntarily.

"Do you want to go on an adventure with me?"

An adventure. There was something very pleasant about that invitation, and since adventures possibly involved danger, it was all the better that he go along. Daneel smiled.

"Certainly, Kobra. What did you have in mind?"

Oh, right. He had to adventure to somewhere. "I don't know. Like the church or the lighthouse or something. I kinda wanted to explore the woods, but I think we should save that until we have guns or something."

He started to climb down the ladder.

Daneel followed down the ladder. With the wild animals still lurking about, perhaps that was wise, though he didn't much like the idea of any more weapons around.

"I see. Exploration is an important task. I would be pleased to help. I would also like to see that you come to no harm."

He smiled, faintly.

"Awesome! No harm to either of us, then." He shot Daneel a playful look, but he really wasn't going to let anything happen to him. They both needed to be safe.

He grabbed for Daneel's hand so that he could tug him out the door. "Lighthouse?"

"Certainly. I've been curious to see the lighthouse."

He would have followed without the hand-holding, but he had no objection either; Daneel adjusted his grasp on Kobra's hand to secure his hold, and followed along outside.

"Have there been reports of interest from the lighthouse?"

Holding hands wasn't about making people do things for Kobra. He just liked simple touches with his friends. He didn't have much to go on most of the time, but a little affection or just closeness could make a big difference for him.

"I don't know, but it's all rusty and weird. We have to explore it, right? It's like a law!" He squeezed Daneel's hand as they walked.

A law? Daneel understood laws, but that was a strange way for Kobra to put it, from his point of view.

"Friend Giskard and I sometimes discussed the possibility that there were laws by which humanity is bound, as robots are bound by the Laws of Robotics. I think it very likely, though I'm not at all sure what those Laws might be. Would the need to explore be one, do you think?"

Kobra's turned a little more serious. "Yeah, I kinda think so. I think most people are really curious by nature. When we see something new or different, we want to understand it. Or kill it, I guess, but I like this better."

He hummed a little. "That and our drive for sex and freedom."

"Understanding is a far better option than killing something," Daneel said gravely. "I have observed that the drive for sex and romantic attachments can be very strong in humans, and has the potential to dictate behaviour to a surprising degree. I presume that this is part of the evolutionary need to procreate."

He wasn't smiling, but there was something almost akin to fond amusement in his voice. Almost.

"It's also really fun." He laughed. "It's a great way to relieve stress and enjoy some time with someone you like bein' around." And Kobra liked being around a lot of people. Sex was fun and Kobra was a social and tactile person. He was self-aware enough about those things and he didn't see any reason to pretend he was any other way. He was safe and he had sex with consenting adults, no matter what Party had to say about it.

"Wait, I didn't even think to ask. Are you anatomically... human-like? Like a hundred percent?"

"I do possess genitalia," Daneel confirmed, calmly. He was fairly certain that was what Kobra was asking him; it made sense, in context of their conversation. "I would hardly be a convincing simulacrum of humanity otherwise. I'm also capable of maintaining an erection if I wish, though of course I have no ejaculatory function."

Kobra just looked at him for a moment. That was a lot of science-y words right there.

"Is it still fun for you?" It would be really uncool if they made it so that it wasn't. There's something so cruel about giving someone the tools without any use for the payoff.

"I've never had opportunity or reason to perform that service for anyone," Daneel said, rather thoughtfully. "Kobra, I don't have any sort of sex drive. I cannot have an orgasm. Still..."

He had thought about this, especially after the deacivation, the death of friend Jander.

"Still, it seems to me that I would find it pleasurable to provide that sort of pleasure for someone, particularly a friend whose well-being was important to me."

Kobra just gaped. "It's not... when you call it a service, it sounds all bought and paid for and shit. Not that I'm the kind of person to wax about the emotional side of sex, but it's not like washing someone's car or somethin'. Even when you're just friends, it's still, y'know, intimate and shit."

He was bad at explaining this, but thankfully they were almost at the lighthouse. Maybe he should let Lyds explain this stuff. She was better with words.

He'd said that wrong, clearly. Daneel was admittedly out of his element in these matters, though.

"I'm sorry, Kobra. I didn't mean to give that impression. On Aurora, it's not uncommon for humans to make sexual use of robots, even ones that aren't humaniform. It's usually seen as aided masturbation."

There were exceptions, perhaps, but that was how it was and he'd never thought much of it, either way. It simply was. Now, though, Daneel looked up at the lighthouse, more concerned about the potential dangers that might lie within than sexual morals.

"Yeah, well... you're a person, Dan." He stopped just before entering, dropping Daneel's hand. "You add a second person, it's not masturbation any more. You're a friend, not a fuckin' vibrator."

It was pretty cut and dry to him. Daneel might not see it that way, but he had a personality and he had wants and things made him happy. He was a person in Kobra's book. He didn't know about those other robots, but he knew about Dan. They lived together and they were friends.

"I have known of cases where it's seen differently," Daneel allowed. "But as I said, it's not something I have personal experience with. I can only anticipate my own reactions."

Well, the lighthouse. He looked up at it for a moment, considering what they might find, and reached to open the door for Kobra.

Kobra plastered a grin on his face and walked in, waiting for Daneel inside the door. Okay, weird, rickety noises, check! Not enough light to really see much, check! Ghostbusters theme... He started to hum aaaaand check!

After a moment, he moved towards the stairs.

"Do be careful," Daneel said, following. "This place has been abandoned for an unknown amount of time, and there might be damage or decay that could be dangerous."

It would have been difficult for him to not say that.

"Careful's my middle name, Dan." Perhaps the biggest lie he'd ever told. He takes a careful step on the rickety stairs and then another. He can take a little fall if he has to.

"You coming?"

"Of course."

Daneel moved closely behind Kobra, testing the stairs cautiously under his greater weight.

"Is there something you hope to find here, Kobra?"
