Cooking Lessons
Who: Alec Lightwood, Magnus Bane
Where: A kitchen
When: Day 87, lunch time
Summary: Alec's never had to cook in his life and he's turned to his ex-boyfriend for help.
There are a lot of things going wrong in Alec’s life. He’s made a mental list of them and dwelt on each one. His inability to cook, and Magnus are at the top. Today he plans to over come one and try to face the other. He’s nervous as he waits at the agreed meeting place for Magnus, naturally he is ten minutes early.
His clothes are looser on him and he’s biting at a fingernail absentmindedly. Fighting a Greater demon would be easier than this.

"They are hard to miss, apart from their names."
Possession is a name associated with downworlders. Alec isn't sure what to make of angels taking control of human bodies. Sure the people agree to it but...there was nothing for it in the laws.
"Humans agree for them to share their bodies," he explains reluctantly. It's clear from his face that his world views have been shaken.

"Hark! The herald angel sings through the mouths of the weird little citizens."

"They are still angels Magnus." He doesn't know if he could give up his body to an angel. 'They don't know about Shadowhunters."
Yup moving on.

He knows what that means to Alec. The race of the Shadowhunters have been chosen directly by God. They have their duty and their destiny and to run into angels who don't know that.
"Well, I'm sure you can enlighten them."

"Two of them know, now." He pauses as he strides towards the house, his shoulders set. "They have nothing for me to do." That scared him. He isn't needed or wanted by anyone. He has to keep the laws going, or he has nothing left.

He knows how Magnus feels about the law. He helps because he cares about the people, not about the council. And to see him wind himself up in a place without his rules or duty makes his heart twinge.
"You can be a Shadowhunter anywhere you need to, but we're both stuck here. We're going to need to fit in to survive."

He steps closer to Magnus as he resumes walking. They had been each others strength before. "You are standing out."
no subject
He flashes him a grin, something sharp and wicked and so very Magnus. "Well, I can hardly tame my own wonder anymore than you can stop being a Lightwood."
There's a pause, then he hums, "We have that in common."

Alec has had weeks of missing him. Magnus had five minutes of them being no longer together. He hasn't even had chance to try and find his magic carpet.

Ignore the worry please, Magnus.

His gaze is curious as he steps inside but there's no real life to it, none of Alec's usual charm. The Institute suits him. Magnus' own home suits him. This doesn't.
"I'm sure the rest of them are quaking in fear."

"I believe there is everything we need in here."

"Oh look, wine."

"Only because if I'm drunk enough I don't have to taste the burnt bits."
He crosses the room and hands Alec his glass, close enough to touch now.

He jerks the glass back quickly and takes a sip. His licks his lips. "Please tell me you are better at this than Izzy."

"I'm not going to pretend I understand it, Alec."
