It had been a pleasant morning. The power had surged, blowing out a few minor appliances, before settling back to normal. The sun had been high in the sky and the bird had been chirping. The residents of Kore couldn't ask for a nicer day, at least not if they're being realistic.

That's why it's likely a surprise when the entire town begins to shake without warning. Things fly from shelves and animals scatter as the town is overtaken by a massive earthquake.

The worst of the shaking is centered around the General Store where poor little Maggie is looking for a box of crackers. The shaking is so violent that the building itself crumbles around her and he scream can be heard echoing in nearby buildings.

She huffed. "Yeah, but at least no one will have to dig me out when it falls on me."

"There does seem to be a reoccurring theme, doesn't there?" It was gentle, probing but not accusatory. "How many times has this been now?"

[kore_npc]

"Twice with the buildings and a few other times where stuff just fell off of shelves and onto my head." She sighed heavily. "And, you know, totally not sure if that time I was cut in half is related... I hate this place."

[servingmichael]

"What other times? Tell me about them, I might be able to puzzle something out." It's gentle, but probative.

[kore_npc]

"Things just shook and I kept getting knocked on the head." It's an absent comment, as if it's more an annoyance than anything.

[servingmichael]

Maggie, you seem to be at the center of these, so a little more detail would be good. Especially if you are a target.

[ It's patient, but unyielding. ]

Well, I don't know! What other details are there? I'm lucky my head is in one piece. It's like a storm cloud just follows me, but instead of rain I get earthquakes.

Calm down. You're safe with me, at least. What were you doing? Thinking about? What had you done recently?

I guess I was scared. I thought I heard something rattling in the back room of the store.

And the other times?

Nothing memorable... One time I was angry, though. I know that because I was pissed off and then a book fell on my head.

In my world, there's a few people who can do these kinds of things, you know. Cause earthquakes, some are psychic.

[ It's gently said, more an aside, but then, this siltation is suspect and he's not sure what to make of it. ]

You think I cause them?

[ She sounds dubious and more than a little afraid. ]

Either you can cause them, and that knowledge was removed from you or someone else can and they are targeting you for some reason.

[ Neither were good, but one was highly irresponsible. ]

Well, how can I tell? You're an angel. Shouldn't you know?

If your memory wasn't so thoroughly tampered with, I would.
