Blackout, blackout!

Who: The residents of Cape Kore
Where: The center of town, near the ruined fountain
When: Day 100
What: Stane gathered some supplies for a community fire. Consider this a party-style post reacting to the lack of power and the loss of the communicators.

After the power goes out, Stane spends a few minutes standing stock still in the room, holding his breath and waiting for it to come back, but he doesn't waste too much time lingering in that kind of hopefulness. People are going to need things; they're going to need fire to cook and boil water, and they're going to need to do something about the food that's going to spoil.

It's so important that he helps them. It's so important that he helps them stay alive. Maybe the dream sharing is getting to him, maybe it's made his nightmares... feel real, but...

They're going to survive this. He's determined.

He gathers some wood that can be used for firewood and kindling, and he leaves them in the center of the town; he has no way of announcing that the things are there, really, but he cups his hands around his mouth and shouts a general Go to the fountain! Maybe someone will hear him.

"I probably have, at some point on the radio. But I likely wasn't paying attention at the time." Fortescue offers him an apologetic smile in return. "I do remember that she's popular with many people, in the... jazz genre?"

Her cat perks up at the mention.

[ Wow Donna. That's pretty extreme. And it probably wasn't meant to be funny, but it makes Chuck laugh anyways. ]

I, uh... Don't think thing will get quite that bad.

[ Chuck doesn't know all that much about Meg. After all, his focus was mainly on the Winchesters and their allies. So while that means he's got the back story of characters -- of people -- like Ellen and Jo, others like Meg are a complete mystery. And while that works in narrative, it turns out to be less than beneficial when they happen to be actual people.

In the end, he drops it. He figures she probably doesn't want to talk about whatever happened to her, anyways. ]

Yeah, no, I, uh... [ He struggles to say he's fine, because he had been just kidnapped by scientists, and now there was a city wide black out. ] ... I haven't found any more dead bodies, at least?

Dreams and nightmares are different, those don't warn of something about to come true...

Wait... visions of things that may happen because they've happened before? Confusing.

Well, they've turned the lights out on us, why not bring out the monsters while they're at it, right?

Mmm. I obtained the memories of a lifeform -- a monster, if you prefer -- that had lived at least fifty thousand years before. What I remember is... confused, but there are rumours... an enemy that returns in cycles. That's the only sort of 'prophesy' that I know.

I see, but that's prophecy, not clairvoyance.

A very, very close friend of mine could see the future. She had visions. They all came true. That was her gift.

Is that a gift? That could be as much gift as curse, easily. Could she change what she saw?

It is both... and yes, she could by telling others, by trying to take action against it. She told me a number of things that might've come to pass, and we worked to avoid them. Sometimes it made things better... sometimes worse.

[ Rude. She happens to to be the number one supporter of Team Winchester - well, when it serves her purpose she's the number one supporter of Team Winchester. At the moment she's an ally. ]

I'm sure more dead bodies can be arranged if you start to suffer rotting corpse withdrawal symptoms.

[ It's a joke. She's been keeping her hands very clean. ]

Let's hope the black out isn't a permanent feature. I imagine it'd suck for you fleshy humans.

There's something else. Maybe I'll give you a demonstration some time. If you ask nicely.

[ One day these two are going to end up murdering each other or screwing each other. It's hard to tell exactly which way it'll go. ]

Let's hope so because you skinny people are bound to target us whales first. And I really don't want murdering to be barbecued.

Would make sense though. I mean, the mad pervy alien scientists... they're probably seeing how far they can push us before we snap and turn into crazed bloodthirsty monsters.

Gingers have more fun - well, aside from the constant teasing. And the likelihood of getting sunburnt...

He laughs, and stops playing to reach out and stroke the cat's head. "Yes sweetheart. She was popular. She was one of the best singers that ever lived. Used to sing with Louis Armstrong a lot- please tell me you've heard of him?"

[ Ned gives her a look that is initially incredulous, his eyes wide, mouth dropping open for a moment. He closes it a second later, feeling a bit foolish. It's not exactly the most outlandish thing he's learned about a person in this place. Really, he ought to get used to it all, but sometimes it takes him by surprise ]

How do you train someone to deal with being kidnapped?

[ He says it half as a joke, but half seriously, too. Over and beyond being brought here, there was once an... incident, with a few of his fellow captives. It was no one's fault, of course: they'd been transformed into various kinds of monsters and couldn't exactly be held responsible for dragging Ned across the town by his neck and handcuffing him to a radiator. All the same, he hadn't coped very well with that situation, and on the off-chance that it ever happens again, he wouldn't say no to a pointer or two from someone who is, clearly, far more badass than he could ever hope to be ]

Have you seen them? I may not agree with most of their Father's policies, but I can sure respect His sense of aesthetics.

[He leers. He doesn't really expect to be believed, but it's always fun trying to make people uncomfortable.]

Someone ought to tell the ones you associate with that he created razors too.

[Dilandau leans nearer, speaking just above a whisper]

Oh, very nicely, I assure you. I've had some practice - I can be really quite convincing.

[He waggles his eyebrows, but there's still something dangerous in that smirk. For the sake of keeping the somewhat shaky peace he has with Castiel he'll forgo sleeping with and/or killing her for the time being, at least, but when he gets tired of that... well, it'll be an interesting day for them both.]

Yeah. Kidnapped. I went to sleep and then woke up days later. Guess I missed you guys' dream land fun, but whatever. [ He cringed when he brought up leaving scissors in his body. That wasn't a comforting thought, but he was pretty sure he had no scissors in his body. ] I think I'd feel scissors in my body. Why do you wanna know anyways? I thought you didn't appreciate me being here with "your face"?

I think this place has more places to hide that don't include pissing off the dinos in the forest. Besides you can totally survive in the forest--sorta. Just don't go too far in like I did and you're golden.

[ He just came from a little extended camping trip. Earlier. He wasn't dino chow either. ]

Though I gotta say, peach fuzz, I'm surprised you even know what a razor is. Doesn't look like you'll be using one any time in the next ten years or so.

I don't. [ So there. Have a glare, too, though he wonders if it's as effective when it's coming from your own face. It weirds the hell out of him, yeah, and he's still not sure the guy isn't some kind of demon or shifter, but then he remembers that weirdass world where Dean didn't exist at all, and his face belonged to Jansport or whoever. He guesses this shit happens. ]

But I'm interested in what the guy wearing my face gets up to. You could get me in a lot of trouble if you tried. [ He knows. Remember that time a shifter got Dean wanted for murder? Great, awesome, super fun times. ]

And sure, you wouldn't feel the scissors now. [ He turns back to the fire. ] They probably fixed it.

[Though Gabriel's right, with his age and the colour of his hair he'd be able to get away with skipping this routine often with no one the wiser, but he refuses to, because he'll know he's got stubble and it's not acceptable]

[ He shouldn't be saying this. He could be dooming them all. But then is he supposed to keep this quiet? They have a right to know what kind of danger they're in. ]

They tried to escape, but the plan was leaked, and the scientists, they... removed the troublemakers. [ He looks pained, and he actually is; his nose has started to bleed. ]

They tried to alter my memories, too. It worked up until recently.
