Blackout, blackout!

Who: The residents of Cape Kore
Where: The center of town, near the ruined fountain
When: Day 100
What: Stane gathered some supplies for a community fire. Consider this a party-style post reacting to the lack of power and the loss of the communicators.

After the power goes out, Stane spends a few minutes standing stock still in the room, holding his breath and waiting for it to come back, but he doesn't waste too much time lingering in that kind of hopefulness. People are going to need things; they're going to need fire to cook and boil water, and they're going to need to do something about the food that's going to spoil.

It's so important that he helps them. It's so important that he helps them stay alive. Maybe the dream sharing is getting to him, maybe it's made his nightmares... feel real, but...

They're going to survive this. He's determined.

He gathers some wood that can be used for firewood and kindling, and he leaves them in the center of the town; he has no way of announcing that the things are there, really, but he cups his hands around his mouth and shouts a general Go to the fountain! Maybe someone will hear him.

[ Meg is one very unhappy little demo right now. Seriously. When did this streak of bad luck hit? Then again she lives with a Winchester, bad luck is probably inevitable.

Firstly she was tortured, yes tortured by the crazy hunter chick - which her throat still hasn't fully healed from - thanks for that Ellen. The wannabe actress from Sheboygan sends her thanks too.

But now? Now the power has to go and die right in the middle of her shower. Fantastic. Could this day get much worse? Actually, wait. Forget she said that. Things could be much worse.

On hearing Stane's yelling she makes her way to the fountain, hair still dripping and thoroughly miserable. ]

So who forgot to feed the meter?

[She doesn't complain about the primitive technology here. She doesn't. It's petty and beside the point and solves nothing. Still, to lose much of what they already had? That's just unfair.

Arms crossed over her chest, Shiala huddles up to the fire, looking cross.]

[Once the whole thing goes, there's only so much to check. Fortescue tries. She knows a little about electrical systems, though mostly it's how to sabotage them. The less-sophisticated-than-back-home wiring of the house is fairly easy to figure out, but the power outage? Complete mystery. The house's wiring doesn't seem damaged and there's no smoke that she can smell.

She tries not to let it get to her, insulating the fish with as much ice is left. That's her hard work in there. After that, finally, she hears the sound of yelling and voices. By then, there's a fire. She heads out in that direction to see what's going on, sitting down near it to get warmed up. Fiddling with what she could of the outside of the house, without a jacket, wasn't a wise decision. Mornings are chilly, after all. Jazz sits close by, green eyes watchful, as she tries to absorb everything she hears around her.]

[The flickering light catches Mystique's eye, though not knowing what it is, she skulks around in the shadows for a bit and observes those at the fire for nearly an hour before slipping out of the shadows to join them. She's in her assumed disguise of a young woman of possible Hispanic heritage, her main goal is to get some food.]

If Balthazar hadn't dragged him indoors, Rat wouldn't have even noticed the power shortage. He is, in so many ways, used to doing without. While he may or may not have heard the call, the sight of a communal fire draws him out of sheer habit. Usually they're in trash cans and the people around them are more like himself, but it's the spirit of the thing. He's got his guitar, and all this just looks almost festive to him.

Rat sits on the edge of the fountain and tunes up, idly strumming the strings and people watching.

[ Donna doesn't know if to be relieved she's not the only one without power or terrified. She can't shake the ominous feeling looming over her and it's not just because she can't make cups of tea for everyone unless she boils water over a fire.

Don't suppose there's a magic stock of torches lying about somewhere? [ She frowns. ] Or a back-up generator for the fridges and freezers? I mean they'll keep cold awhile as long as people don't keep opening the doors. But I can't see an electrician popping by any time soon.

[ Alec went on high alert the minute the power went out. He thought for a minute whoever had taken his roommates and him prior had returned to finish out the job. He tensed up in the kitchen and held his breath as he tried to pinpoint any foreign noises in the house. Even with his advanced hearing he got nothing. This lead him to believe that this was a isolated incident. Not connected to what happened to him and his roommates before. Not comforting considering how this town was run, but least he didn't have to wait around to be kidnapped.

He finally ventured outside of his house and that's when he heard Stane. Farther away than a human could hear, but Alec wasn't human. So he made his way to the fountain. Having feline DNA was coming in handy considering how dark everything was. It didn't take him long to reach the fountain and survey the situation. He probably should have stayed in his home, but if people were coming to his home he'd rather not be in it if they arrived. ]

[ It's not difficult for Clint to make his way down to the fountain. Not because he heard Stane, but mostly because it was familiar ground. It's the place they all start when they arrive in Cape Kore. Why wouldn't it be the logical place to go after having the power cut. He didn't even bother to check his communicator, but something tells him that it's not gonna play ball. Why waste valuable time messing around with a now useless device?

The group doesn't really interest Clint too much. He'll mingle though because isn't there safety in numbers? That's still a thing? He's feeling oddly outnumbered though with the people from his world going AWOL. Steve, Natasha (though technically not his), Tony and Bruce. He's the last man standing and it's freaking him out. This situation isn't doing much to help. Plus he's still really pissed at Kenzi going missing. ]
Guess a really gnarly game of hide and seek is out of the question? [ He feels awkward. Stupid stuff comes out of his mouth when he feels awkward. ]

[Dilandau had come out armed and ready for trouble, but the the campfire had already started burning by the time he came to the centre and he immediately gravitated towards the one constant familiar between this world and his.

Currently he's squatting as near to the flames as he can stand, watching them with wide, fascinated eyes, his hand lax around his sword hilt.]

[There's little enough to do in his house when the lights are on; a lack of power sends 24 wandering. He eventually notices some flickering light in the distance and finds his way to the fire.

His commentary is directed at no one in particular. He just likes to comment on things.]

So what happened? Did the scientists forget to pay the electric bill?

Is our consolation prize supposed to be campfire songs?

[After a while of sitting about in the dark, Dirk pulls on his coat wanders outside until he sees the fire. The group looks less that proactive or organized, so he's guessing that nobody here knows what's going on either.]

[More to himself than anyone else, he says] I take it that this hasn't happened before.

[It's not a particular hindrance to Samandriel when the power goes out, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't still leave him concerned. Anywhere other then Cape Kore, he'd be unlikely to care, but considering the circumstances, and the fact that no power could possibly mean something bad for all of them, it leaves him unsettled. That, and a little worried about everyone else, who will no doubt be worse off than he with no electricity.

He's quiet when he joins the group around the fire, and his eyes scan over everyone present just to make sure they're okay. Nobody seems hurt or particularly shaken, as far as he can see, so that at least comes as some relief. He's as curious as everyone else as to what's up, but taking notice of the comments and questions of others, he simply remains silent and stands off to the side. No point in stating what's already been said, after all. Instead, he opts for now to just listen to the quiet chatter and watch the fire, only in part because he's a bit unsure of how to approach a human--or non-human, as the case may be--in order to strike up casual conversation.]

It's not until people start gathering and discussing the situation that Raum even realizes that the power's gone out. Mapping his new surroundings has been much more quickly and easily done as a wolf and he hasn't spent a great deal of time indoors since arriving. He's not a fan of foundations, after all, being a nomad at heart, all wild eyes and wanderlust.

After an initial walk through those gathered, he seats himself on the ground, a bit out of the way, near enough to catch snatches of conversation but not so near as to be entirely involved. He will gladly teach those in need how to live by more "primitive" means. For now, however, the sky is more interesting than the initial confusion and anxiety of losing one's creature comforts and he's already put in his two cents here and there.
