Blackout, blackout!

Who: The residents of Cape Kore
Where: The center of town, near the ruined fountain
When: Day 100
What: Stane gathered some supplies for a community fire. Consider this a party-style post reacting to the lack of power and the loss of the communicators.

After the power goes out, Stane spends a few minutes standing stock still in the room, holding his breath and waiting for it to come back, but he doesn't waste too much time lingering in that kind of hopefulness. People are going to need things; they're going to need fire to cook and boil water, and they're going to need to do something about the food that's going to spoil.

It's so important that he helps them. It's so important that he helps them stay alive. Maybe the dream sharing is getting to him, maybe it's made his nightmares... feel real, but...

They're going to survive this. He's determined.

He gathers some wood that can be used for firewood and kindling, and he leaves them in the center of the town; he has no way of announcing that the things are there, really, but he cups his hands around his mouth and shouts a general Go to the fountain! Maybe someone will hear him.

Hm. Yeah. I suppose you are a teeny tiny bit more charming. Just don't let it go to your head. Though I suppose if your head swells too much we can use you as a shield...

[ Things have been on the quiet side and that's probably as close to safety and peace they're gonna find in this place. It's hardly the most reassuring thought.

She watches him. She knows he's an angel. She knows the angels could probably kill everyone here if they wanted to. But he looks so young and innocent that she can't help but want to protect him. ]

Not so sure there's much luck to be found here, but what is life if we don't cling to a little hope?

Until then... we're gonna be okay, right?

[foundacause]

[ Slitting her throat is so, so tempting. Maybe even tearing her spine out through her nose. But she won't. Because of her stupid pet Winchester's attachment to her. And her stupid angel's attachment to the stupid Winchester. ]

Maybe I'll indulge in emo music and cut myself.

She tilts her head to the side, trying to imagine him in the same garb she's seen other Blues musicians play — in a dramatically lit room, cigarette smoke curling through the air. "So Blues took you in. Is it fun, being in a band?"

[bluesrat]

"It was fun..." He gives a sad little smile. "They were my second family."

He's pretty scruffy these days, but the weathered cap wouldn't be too out of place in that setting, and he does smoke sometimes. He's trying to quit, recently.

Oh, you can do that anyway. I'm always happy to come dashing to the rescue of a pretty lady.

Just try not to do it in public. Some people are squeamish about that sort of thing. I knew a guy who used to pass out at the very mention of it.

[Beat.]

Emo music, that is. Feel free to self-mutilate.

If you suggested this to me, I'd punch you, but still, have you spoken to Charles Xavier? He might be able to dig around your skull and shake loose what it is you can't remember.

[ ...not exactly a comforting notion. ]

...Are you sure that's safe?

[ He's not sure if he's asking weither playing a game of hide and go seek in the pitch black Kore or going on a camping trip into the forest would be safe, but both are logical questions. ]

[ He's not saying it to be nice or try to gain points or anything. He truly believes it. ]

But, I, uh. I don't think they would push us that far, would they? I mean... what would be the point in bringing us here, otherwise?

[ Well, she certainly might be on the Winchester's side now, but she wasn't during the Apocalypse. And seeing as that's what Chuck was writing, that's when Chuck is from, he wasn't exactly graced with Meg's ultimate backstory.

When she offers to fix the lack of dead bodies problem, Chuck waves his hands because no, no, don't need that. ]

No, no! I, uh, don't need to see any more dead bodies.

[ Ever. For the rest of his life. ]

Yeah, no, it... wouldn't be a good thing. The food would spoil -- we wouldn't have any food.

[ Ned lets out a long sigh. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't undersell the importance of his own baking skills. He is a firm believer in the fact that pie can improve almost any situation imaginable. But those skills are of little use if he doesn't have a way to use them, and without power.... ]

There does seem to, uh. Be a significant portion of the population who are, for lack of a better word... badasses.

I'll definitely be giving the camp fire sing-along a miss then. Instead I'll lock myself in my room and write poetry all about my precious thoughts and feelings.

Maybe when I'm done I can ram the pages down your throat so you can enjoy them too...

[ He really needs to get caught up with the latest happening in the Winchester Saga. He's missing out on all the juiciest gossip and all the fun. Plus, her redemption is kind of meaningless when people still see her as the murderous demon she once was...

And the Winchesters would just love new books. Absolutely adore them. Chuck should write a whole load more! ]

You could always eat grass and weeds. Somehow I can't imagine being here alone with the angels if all the humans starved to death would be entirely enjoyable.

I dunno. I mean, who knows what they're capable of? Most people who get the joy of meeting them face to face can't remember all that happens so who knows what they do to us!

I wouldn't put anything past them. Who knows what kind of sick games they plan on playing...

[ The idea still unsettles Stane, but... Well, the dam has broken now. Probably the scientists are already aware of that. ]

That's an interesting idea; thank you. I will consider that.

Fortescue catches the sad glint, and nods. Perhaps this is a subject best left undisturbed, for the most part.

"If you scrape up enough instruments, maybe the people around here would have enough talent for, say, a polka band," she jokes lightly, smiling.

[That's a term a bit too modern for Fortescue, even in her own crazy world, and she frowns thoughtfully at Ned. Then smiles. Clearly, there's something that she's missing, here.]

Do you disapprove of that many bums here?

[bluesrat]

He did say were, past tense, and that's not just because he's here now. Her suggestion makes him give a genuine laugh, though.

"You know, I can play a lot of styles, but I think that just may be one that's out of my range..." He gives a few coughs, grinning. "Why, do you secretly play the accordion?"

[ Ned looks at her in confusion for a good thirty seconds, misunderstanding what she means by bums at first, trying to puzzle out how that answer possibly makes sense given the context. Then, when he puts together the British and the from-the-past pieces of evidence, he realizes, and laughs at his own mistake ]

No, it's- [ He tries to think of some appropriate equivalent or definition ] Sorry. Forgot you're from the past. Means a different thing, in my time. What I was trying to say is there are so many people here who are very competent and intimidating, who know how to fight and take care of themselves and... that kind of thing.

[ He has been caught up - sort of. Dean gave him a crash course in everything that he'd missed out on. However, he'd neglected to mention just how, exactly, Meg was involved in all of it.

First he gets called a house plant, and now, ]

What? No, we're--we're not cows.

Yeah, but...

[ Chuck frowns, thinking. he honestly doesn't understand why the scientists would bring numerous people from different worlds together only to starve them to death to see what happens. Especially since it's pretty well documented that cannibalism is a thing that happens. Why test something that's already confirmed? ]

...I guess I just don't see the point of it, you know?
