Blackout, blackout!

Who: The residents of Cape Kore
Where: The center of town, near the ruined fountain
When: Day 100
What: Stane gathered some supplies for a community fire. Consider this a party-style post reacting to the lack of power and the loss of the communicators.

After the power goes out, Stane spends a few minutes standing stock still in the room, holding his breath and waiting for it to come back, but he doesn't waste too much time lingering in that kind of hopefulness. People are going to need things; they're going to need fire to cook and boil water, and they're going to need to do something about the food that's going to spoil.

It's so important that he helps them. It's so important that he helps them stay alive. Maybe the dream sharing is getting to him, maybe it's made his nightmares... feel real, but...

They're going to survive this. He's determined.

He gathers some wood that can be used for firewood and kindling, and he leaves them in the center of the town; he has no way of announcing that the things are there, really, but he cups his hands around his mouth and shouts a general Go to the fountain! Maybe someone will hear him.

[ Well, there's a familiar face. Dean's been on the lookout for him as casually as possible, but really, the people who've worn his face in the past never really did him any favors, so he's been interested in making sure this Alec guy checks out. There hasn't been much to check out, though.

...wait, not like that.

He wanders over to him and gives him a nod of greeting. ]

Haven't seen you around lately.

[monticora]

[ Would running away from the dude with your face be okay? It didn't really matter. When has Alec ever done anything remotely normal? He's basically always on the edge of offending someone with his big mouth. He stays put though. Old Man River can't run him off. He's pretty sure he can take this guy. Not that he imagines other him will go quietly if anything does happen, but he's prepared in case he has to handle the situation.

Alec pursed his lips quietly as Dean spoke. It took another few moments before he decided he should answer the guy. Alec spoke when Alec was good and ready. Most of the time. Unless Max was giving him head slaps to prompt him along. Then he didn't have much control. ] Got kidnapped on my first night. My roommates are missing. Now I got big shiny house all to myself. I've been busy.

[venatical]

Kidnapped? Like the scientists plunked you down in here and then changed their minds? [ He eyes himself up and down. ] Like they left a pair of scissors in there when they were taking out your kidney or something?

[monticora]

Yeah. Kidnapped. I went to sleep and then woke up days later. Guess I missed you guys' dream land fun, but whatever. [ He cringed when he brought up leaving scissors in his body. That wasn't a comforting thought, but he was pretty sure he had no scissors in his body. ] I think I'd feel scissors in my body. Why do you wanna know anyways? I thought you didn't appreciate me being here with "your face"?

[venatical]

I don't. [ So there. Have a glare, too, though he wonders if it's as effective when it's coming from your own face. It weirds the hell out of him, yeah, and he's still not sure the guy isn't some kind of demon or shifter, but then he remembers that weirdass world where Dean didn't exist at all, and his face belonged to Jansport or whoever. He guesses this shit happens. ]

But I'm interested in what the guy wearing my face gets up to. You could get me in a lot of trouble if you tried. [ He knows. Remember that time a shifter got Dean wanted for murder? Great, awesome, super fun times. ]

And sure, you wouldn't feel the scissors now. [ He turns back to the fire. ] They probably fixed it.

[monticora]

Right. [ Enjoy the smugness that is now tinted with a little bit of annoyance. Because there is nothing worse than talking to someone with a more obnoxious personality of your own. That's probably how Dean feels too. For two guys who claim to be so damn different they are so damn close in terms of personality that it's kinda spooky. Though Alec looks out for himself more than other people and Dean seems to have made a business of looking out for folks. What an idiot.

He snorts with laughter when he tries to make a case that Alec is gonna get him into trouble. What the hell would he gain from getting this guy in trouble? Half the people here liked him and he looked slightly younger than him. You'd have to be drunk and stupid think they were the same guy.

What a fucking weirdo. Alec is already fed up with him. ] I don't have scissors in my body. If I did--I'd be fine. [ It'd puncture a few things and rattle around. He had advanced genetics and he had sustained worse than scissors rattling around inside of him. ] You're weird.

[venatical]

[ Oh, he'd be fine huh. Well, la-dee-da. It's true that they're very similar, which is probably why they're not doing a good job of getting along so far, as Dean kind of makes obnoxious into an art form. He's also not entirely fond of himself, most days, and that probably isn't featuring here, but hey, it could.

And he doesn't trust this guy. Dean's maybe not thrilled with being reminded of what he looked like when he was younger -- sure, he was always good looking, but he likes how he's aged. That is, Alec looks like Dean could snap him in two.

Dean scowls over at him. ]

You're weird. [ Yeah, they're doing this. ]

[monticora]

[ Dean could sure as hell try to snap Alec in two. He'd wind up flat on his ass with some broken bones for his trouble. Just because he looks young and baby faced does not mean that Dean is going to win a slug fest between the two of them. Go whine to your angel boyfriend about that, Dean.

Having a snippy conversation with the guy who has your face at a weird blackout bonfire is not how he saw his night going. Whatever though. ] And they say I'm a child. You're like a million times worse. Aren't you older too? Super adult, man.

[venatical]

[ He snorts, unimpressed. ]

Here's a tip from someone who's been wearing our face longer than you. [ He points at his face and draws a circle in the air around it, his eyebrows lifted. ]

Never going to be bothered by that insult.

[ Dean gives him a so there face and turns back to the fire. ]

Nice try, only not at all.

[monticora]

I wasn't aware I was trying to insult you for being old. That what you're getting at? [ Someone is clearly paying attention all the way. Maybe he's older than he's originally thought. Maybe he fell asleep? It is getting mighty late. Maybe he needs to cut out. ] I just meant you were being childish.

[ Alec holds up his hands and smiles. ] Whatever, dude. You're a picture of youth and health.
